Car park by Pontsticill reservoir that can fit a few campers in. There are picnic benches so you can sit outside on a nice day; there is a short path going through the woodland on the left of the car park and you can also go down to the reservoir, it is also a good spot for boating and fishing. We stayed here a few times in December and it was quiet, although I imagine it will be busy in the summer. The road is also not too busy and supermarkets are around 6 miles away in Merthyr Tydfil. No services. No phone service with EE, but there is 4G with Three network. Also close to the Brecon Mountain Railway. There is a small farm across the road, and we had no trouble from them.

No phone connection, no toilets, there is a no camping sign though, but good spot overall

  • 5/5

lovely quiet spot with amazing views and walks. absolutely no phone reception or Internet on o2 or tesco mobile but can find signal 2 minutes up the road if needs be

  • 5/5

very quiet, only two other vans overnight. there is a sign saying no camping but I didn't have any issues. there is no bin so you have to take rubbish with you. there is no signal but if you drive 2 mins up the hill there is another car park/lay-by with signal. the views are incredible

  • 4/5

nous y avons passé une nuit très calme. parfait avec les tables de pique-nique. seul bémol: les midges!!!

  • 1/5

Went to stay here tonight but a no camping sign is up unfortunately so went to another spot.

  • 1/5

Beautiful place but did not stay here. Camping not allowed and zero mobile signal.

  • 4/5

Great spot however there is a no camping sign. We stayed here on June 16th and we got no problem.

  • 4/5

Stayed one night - peaceful- group of fishermen having a bonfire which I think put other vans off - but we weren’t disturbed. No mobile(EE) or tv signal . Doesn’t look like you can walk around reservoir but nice view of surroundings and steam train across the water . We walked to local pub 20 mins walk . Good stopover .

  • 5/5

Stayed here on a Saturday night and there were two other campers there. Space for probably 6-8 vans. We weren't disturbed by anyone and no sight or sound of a warden. One of the best places we've stayed. If you're looking for a sunset go on the other side of the reservoir.

  • 4/5

Stayed here on a Friday night. Arrived around 6pm and left at 8am. No sign of wardens and other larger camper vans were present. Give it a go.

  • 5/5

One of the best in the area. Level ground towards the reservoir. Very quiet. Good 4G. No facilities. 5 other vehicles. No issues from wardens. Friendly locals. Would recommend.

  • 4/5

Spent a quiet night here, despite it being Halloween weekend, and despite the presence of 'Chav-spores' (McDonald's wrappers and discarded fruit flavoured cider cans). Was a little apprehensive, and expected to be disturbed late at night, but was all good in the end. No signed restrictions and no warden visit, which is a rare thing in these parts.

  • 3/5

Very busy so passed by onto another car park.

  • 3/5

Would be a lovely spot but on a Thursday evening we arrived and there must have been 15 other campers there - it was well busy and no chance of parking with a view. We went elsewhere and I would avoid in the summer to be honest.

  • 4/5

Midgy but beautiful. Few other vans camped the night too. Couple arrived around 11pm to listen to loud music and shag, but it only lasted 3 minutes. Even by my own admittedly often underwhelming standards that was fast .

  • 5/5

Lovely quiet place to stay. Great views of the reservoir, no bins so please take your litter home. Don't be fooled by the road to it, it looks like your in the middle of no where, but will eventually get to this car park.

  • 5/5

Nice and quiet by the reservoir, its that time of year for those pesky midges. would go back, good night sleep

  • 5/5

Beautiful location, as mentioned before no services. Other vans around but loads of space. Parked here before doing the Horseshoe circular hike the next morning, very convenient as only a few minutes' drive up the road

  • 5/5

Great local overnight stop for us to get out of the house. Grab a pizza from Pizza Hut and chill out right by the res for the evening! The road is very quiet so not much traffic noise.. always a few fellow vans there for company :)

  • 5/5

Lovely spot ! Few youngsters around having a fire on stones next to reservoir no problem when they left also said to us go put more wood on to get fire going so we sat by fire was lovely undisturbed night !!

  • 5/5

Great stop over, no facilities. No camping but cars/vans are fine. Cars come and go but it's quirt at night. The reservoir is private fishing only, no kayaking unless you're part of a local club and no swimming. There's space by the lake to sit and eat or have a fire and there's a grassy area next to the car park with benches. Feels safe at night

  • 5/5

Great spot. We stayed last night and was a very quiet night. No phone signal.

  • 5/5

Beautiful spot by the the reservoir. We stayed one night and it was very quiet.

  • 5/5

Lovely spot next to the reservoir. No camping sign with tent so think campervans r ok they just don’t want people camping in tents as no facilities there

  • 4/5

Stopped for one night after walks around the Brecon Beacons waterfalls and picking up dinner in Merthyr. Spacious car park next to reservoir on a quiet, windy road. No bins and no camping sign displayed but we were undisturbed.

  • 4/5

Very nice and quiet spot, lovely view of the reservoir. No phone network at all. No height restrictions and even ground so perfect to park. However, roads to arrive there are fairly narrow - our campervan was fine but a larger one might struggle

  • 4/5

Nice parking area by the reservoir. No facilities. Nice picnic areas. People seem to leave their rubbish behind which is not nice at all. Pretty busy in the day time.

  • 4/5

Solid parking ground, ample places to get a quiet corner. We visited on a busy weekend and there ended up only being 3 vans there. No signal anywhere near on EE, Vodaphone or BT. But beautiful views on the lake and great picnic area.

  • 4/5

    Great views here

  • 5/5

Great overnight spot in the Beacons, very quite other than the rain.

  • 3/5

Turned up at dark. level ground in places. Had terrible rain all night so got head down and off in morning. Very different picture if warm and sunny.

  • 3/5

OK place to park up. Safe with a few level spots. lots of rubbish and dog poop left which was not nice really. We stayed overnight with a few other motorhomes, there is a sign that says no camping with a photo of a tent, took this to mean no tents. No swimming in the lake allowed.

  • 1/5

Says no camping in the car park now, there are three boulders to the entrance so very tight, had Renault master conversation barely fitted through. Had dinner and left. Maybe available to camp after carvid???

  • 4/5

Beautiful part of Wales. Very remote, no signal.

  • 5/5

Stayed here on early March. One of the roads to access it was closed so had to access via Pontsticill village. Spot was great! Quiet, lovely views. Recommended!

  • 5/5

Stayed here last night. We were the only ones as it is February ! Beautiful location . At 10am 4 van loads of army lads turned up to go kayaking !! We were leaving anyway so wasn’t a bother. Highly recommend xx

  • 3/5

Nice location. No signal on EE. Big no camping signs but three other campers there and no problems apart from a car came in and did a donut around 11pm

  • 5/5

Piękne miejsce na jedna noc cisza i spokój . Brak zasięgu co jest tylko dodatkowym atutem tego miejsca .

  • 5/5

Lovely spot, officially no camping, but no one is bothered. Lots of other campers on the bank holiday weekend, but quiet in the night. No phone reception for Giffgaff/O2.

  • 4/5

Beautiful spot by the reservoir. Only one other camper there and plenty of walks and places to explore close by.

  • 5/5

Beautiful spot. No phone service, few cars came and went but otherwise perfect. Biking trails nearby too!

  • 5/5

Lovely spot. 6 other vehicles were already parked up for the night, but lots of room for a few more! secluded, quiet, and right next to the reservoir! no phone signal at this spot.

  • 4/5

Grand parking en nature au calme. Aucun service. Pas de signal GSM. Nuit tranquille au bord de l'eau.

  • 5/5

Lovely quiet spot for the night, there was one other camper and the reservoir was gorgeous! The car park is nice and level but there is no reception! There were park benches and picnic tables, great stop spot for the night and morning.

  • 4/5

Really nice spot. Amazing views over the reservoir. stopped a few nights over a bank holiday. 4 motorhomes and campers stopped overnight. Only one of the nights was spoiled for a few hours while teenagers in cars used the picnic area.

  • 4/5

Stayed here for one night on our way to North Wales. A few other vans stayed overnight and several cars came in and out.

  • 5/5

Quiet location right next to the reservoir, a few picnic benches. I didn't have phone signal but that made it just more peaceful.

  • 5/5

Lovely spot. Very peaceful with an amazing view.

  • 4/5

Large car park with plenty of space for lots of vans. Cars come and go and is next to a road but fairly quiet. No bins and signs for "no camping" with a tent icon.
