CP for the National Trust walk of Sugar Loaf hill. Nice big tarmac area (most level right by the entrance). Fantastic views over the valley and Gilwern, great to start a walk around Monmouthshire’s Sugar Loaf hill so it’s very popular with walkers. A warning though, the road up is very steep! The approach from Abergavenny to the Sugerloaf Vineyards is a tight road with a stone wall to the left. Once you’ve passed the vineyard it really kicks up! 16percent with a cattle grid halfway. Based on that I’d recommend only converted panel vans (LWB will be ok) and Caravelle/Transporters sized vehicles visit.

This is not an overnight stop, signs on car park entrance confirm so. Local residents are having water supplies contaminated by overnighters using area as a toilet and dumping grey waste, which sadly now is the majority not the minority. Most overnighters are being challenged to be asked why they think the ‘no overnight stops’ sign doesn’t apply to them, making all vans/motor homes unwelcome.

Great views, steep climb in van but easily done with care and low gear. Great views and walks, plenty of sheep, so keep dogs close.

An amazing view when you get to the top …. However the road leading to it is very narrow but I did manage to get to the top in our 26 year old camper-van . And was nice and quite .

Amazing spot, great views. Can see for miles, only down side is as mentioned by others the hill up to it. Were in a converted transit jumbo which just made it!! Highly recommended.

Breathtaking views!! I’d say as long as you were stealth you’d be fine. We just parked in the day and it very busy. Road up here is tight with very few passing places but people know what you are driving up/down for so are happy to reverse.

Unfortunately this is a National Trust site and overnight parking is not allowed on any National Trust land. Owners have been asked to move on if found staying overnight.

Great views, worth the drive up on the backroad

Stayed here last night. we arrived late and had to take our time not knowing the bendy roads. only saw one other car all night. the veiws are worth the journey. the road is really steep towards the top. so wouldn't recommend anything big trying to get up there.

Nice peaceful night once the dog walkers retired. No issues with kids parking up.
