Arrive this afternoon and advise by Heritage Centre staff about recent problems with antisocial behaviour from groups of youths and boy racers, suggested not suitable to stay overnight, much the pity, Heritage Centre excellent and staff extremely helpful, decided to move on.

Quite enough night, car meetup around 1am no bother

council owned car park, serving nearby heritage centre and park. no restrictions,no height barrier and pretty flat. had a peaceful night. Lots of litter here though !! arrive late, leave early.

arrived around 8pm Sunday night and the carpark was empty. started to get busy early the next day but we had a quiet nights sleep

  • 4/5

Quiet in the night but BUSY during the day. Some people like to sit in their cars and eat their takeaways but did not disturb us. Fairly level ground and toilets across the park if needed

stayed here last night, a couple of boy racers but not for long and in the other side of the carpark so they weren't disturbing anyone.

Arrived late on a freezing cold night. Reasonably flat car park. 3/Vodafone/EE all good signal. Very busy on the Sunday morning from around 9 with a constant stream of cars.

lovely place to park shame boy racers turned up early hours and used it as there own personal race track. there is a bin there and fantastic park over the road. happy to park there for the day but put off for night time parking.

Enjoyed a Friday night here. Parked at lunchtime, plenty of room. Last Friday of the month so there was an evening Supper Club event with pop up food stalls attreacting lots of visitors. Very enjoyable heritage centre, shops and park with lake. Sadly the heritage railway is mothballed. June 2022

Car park, full during the day, empty at night, not much going on early in the morning. Peaceful night's sleep. 4g.

This was a great free park up, there was two other campervans there too. It was flat-ish, enough for us. It was clean and there were bins. Dropped a star as there was someone who came at around 11pm revving their engine, spinning tyres & beeped their horn (just once before speeding off). I was awake so no drama to me. Nothing interrupted our sleep and we'll be coming back at some point.

Our 1st ever park4night in our new van 27th September one other van.had a very quiet night.right next to Heritage Centre which is fabulous a lovely park over the road and a friendly local pub The Market 2 mins away.So happy our first Experience was a good one. And it was free.

Stayed here last night. A few cars knocking about but by 10pm it was all quiet. I felt safe here and slept well. There was another motorhome here who had stayed 4 nights. He got a visit from the council asking him to move. The sign says 24 hours and it is enforced. Fair enough I think.

Our first park4night in our new van! Arrived around 10pm. One other camper in the massive car park. It was extremely quiet, with just one disturbance from a car after midnight that arrived and then wouldn’t start when the people tried to leave. Our family of four slept very well. A peaceful start to the next morning with a few runners and dog walkers in the car park. Would recommend! Felt safe.

Lovely walks from here. Really nice place to stay overnight only had one car doing wheelies around 11 o’clock then left would stay again

Not recommended. Parked here, but teenagers in cars around all the time. Police showed up, did full body searches and left. Teenagers kept coming so we decided to leave and park somewhere else for the night

Great spot spend 2 night there , public toilet as mention before open 9am. People very friendly , meet a couple that invite us for a lovely dinner at their house . Little noisy weekend evening with the youngster but didn’t last very long , definitely recommend.

River slightly in flood, reasonably level, nice walks in woods, fields, parkland and reservoir. Shops and a beer shop just off car park. Well worth a visit, quiet and peaceful night. Free, suggest one night so as not to upset anyone and lose this great stop.

I was a little apprehensive with the last comment. Discovered the Maison du Bierre in the heritage centre which then made our minds up we were staying for the night. This then led to a full tour of Elscar pubs. Had a lovely quiet night sleep and there were 2 other campers as well. Toilets in the heritage centre were open at 9am on Sunday when we needed them too.

Stayed on 13. 08 as already stated very busy during the day but by 6pm the car park was empty. nice walk near the heritage centre and into the town. A very quiet night with dog walkers using early mornings and late evenings.

C'est un lieu idéal lorsqu'on revient d'Ecosse... un deuxième parking est accessible, encore plus au calme tout près du Centre...

We only live 4/5 miles away, but decided to try this parking place out.. Elsecar heritage car park is owned by the council and is 24 hour free . We arrived around 2pm and it was busy, but we found a parking spot. At around 6pm it was empty so we moved to the edge. Had a great time here. Lots of lovely walks. Pennie way trail, great for walking and cycling. Lovely park across the Rd, with a fab walk round the lake, cafe, toilets etc. Went for a nice meal at the Milton arms round the corner and had a very quiet nights sleep. Elsecar heritage centre opens at 10am so there are toilets cafe etc. Although it’s only a stones throw from where we live we will definitely be back..
