(SY8 2HB) Ludlow - 4 Whitcliffe Road

Although it's a beautiful spot, I felt quite unsafe here. There was some loud music being played at night in vehicles around me, then at 4:30am someone proceeded to knock repeatedly and forcefully on my van wall. As a solo female traveller I panicked and called the police, who were incredibly helpful and came to the rescue. It was most likely just a 'joke', but I personally wouldn't go back here.

Brilliant stop over night. Not sure what the comments are about steepness and unable to get level as it’s pretty level to start with - just needs an extra notch on a levelling ramp. Beautiful spot; will be back.

A brilliant park up. We stayed here last night (a Monday in August) and were the only van. As others have said, quite a bit of traffic but nothing really after about 10.30pm. Gorgeous view of Ludlow Castle.

Fantastic views over castle and Ludlow. Easy walk into town but steps getting back to van if not fit. Lots of cars pulling up in daylight hours as popular with dog walkers. Road quite busy until late but then quiet enough. Fantastic walks in the forest up the road

You get a lovely view of the castle here and at night the church is lit up too. Nice walk down the common into town, dog poo bin available. had a quiet night, odd passing car, no hooting (always a bonus) had a chat with a local in the morning who told me the bridge was closed so that was helpful, very friendly, didn't feel unwelcome here at all. will use again.

Great spot for daytime and overnight. Great for walks and beautiful views of the castle. Fairly quiet at night and slightly sloping if you’re either end but middle spots are good.

pro's -Great view over castle and Ludlow town! - short walk to town, though ve prepared, it's downhill so an uphill back - on paths but if dark take a torch! large field with benches con's - on a slope, we had the flattest section so didn't bother us next to road, not busy but always the odd silly bugger driving at silly speed once or twice a night. no problem if you are a deep sleeper

Lay-by large enough for few vehicles, road quietens at night but walkers do arrive from 6,30! Good phone signal on EE and a bin which is handy, lovely views and lots of walks to do

stayed 15.03.23. On a quiet road with nice views over Ludlow. 15 minute walk into town. I was the only van there and had an undisturbed night, with hardly any passing traffic. I would imagine it will be busy in warmer months. I would use again for an overnighter.

Great place to stop. superb views over Ludlow with plenty of open space. Easy walk into town, you must visit the rose and crown pub in the center, well worth the effort. only reason for not giving 5 star is the "night time activity" was very brisk! if you get my drift.

Parked up here during the day. Amazing views over Ludlow. Many benches around to enjoy the view. Large enough lay by for quite a few vehicles. Signal was good on EE and three. Perfect spot to walk into the town, about 10-15mins. Parking here avoids driving in the narrow, busy streets with some quite steep hills in places in the town. By the time we left in the evening the road was fairly quiet

Busy until dusk, otherwise fine for a one nighter . As previously described . No complaints.

Great lay-by with direct views of Ludlow castle. Free and no restrictions. Surprisingly quiet, even the main road! Fossil hunting and river swimming a little further down the road. No services, but great if you have your own! Grass area with benches only.

Nice place to park up for lunch in the shade & lovely view of the castle/ town below. Passing traffic but still quiet enough to hear the crickets. There’s plenty of room to park 4 lwb vans.

Beautiful view! Large grass area for dogs to run with dog waste bin and normal bin. There's a trail through the trees to the bridge to access the town. There's less cars passing here than if you were parked in the town. Plus it's free!
