First time campervanner. Found this to be one of the few pubs happy to allow overnight parking so long as you have a meal. Dog friendly, very welcoming and helpful and my sausage and mash was delicious! Easy access straight from the garden behind the pub to numerous dog walks. Lovely staff member advised parking at rear of pub for less street noise. Highly recommended.

  • 4/5

We stayed on a Saturday night so the A road outside was quieter on a Sunday morning. Took the short walk into Lyndhurst before returning to the pub to eat. Had a lovely meal so a very reasonable exchange for our parking spot! Thankyou The Crown!

  • 4/5

Lovely welcome from the lady running the pub. No charge to stay overnight We turned up without booking but that wasn’t a problem. Meal was very nice although pub was very quiet. Ideal for 1 night perhaps en route to ferry for IOW but pub is on a busy A road and the traffic noise from very early in the morning was painful

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

Great place to stay, lovely food and drink in the pub in exchange to stay the night. Hosts were very welcoming and nice, beautiful walks behind the pub! Perfect to stay

  • 4/5

  • 5/5

Great free overnight stop with the quid pro quo that you should eat in the pub.. Not a problem as the food was delicious and the hospitality was excellent. Highly recommended.

  • 4/5

  • 5/5

Lovely little pub with very friendly staff, great food and forest walks right on your doorstep. We arrived on a Sunday after checking it was OK for a overnight stop and was shown to park to the right hand side of the pub on a dedicated hard standing. Our van is 6mtrs and I would say there are spaces for 4 motorhomes. We had a great stay and would highly recommend

  • 1/5

Lovely staff and food but far too much noise from the road for me!m to sleep. It’s basically on an A road.

  • 5/5

Great stop. Really nice pub, friendly staff. Good food. Direct access to new forest walks

  • 5/5

this is a pub. the crown stirrup. very welcoming. buy beer & food in exchange for overnight park up. IMO probably campervans only call them ask. nice pub garden & woodland walks.

  • 5/5

Just stayed, great pub friendly staff (Pete the landlord) lovely walks in the forest

  • 5/5

lovely pub with a very nice selection of food and drink. staff were friendly and accommodating. peaceful little spot to park up for the night, backs onto the new forest so perfect for a little walk-about, pre or post pub grub and a couple of drinks.

  • 5/5

Ive stayed here 3 times now! Small car park. Free but I ate in the pub (Crown Stirrup) Lovely staff and good food.

  • 5/5

Great pub stop over, nice food, lovely landlady, level park up. The car park isn't very big so we would advise you to call ahead.

  • 5/5

Absolutely lovely staff, great food, Neck Oil on tap and live music the night we stayed. If you’re arriving with anything bigger than a MWB definitely ring ahead as there are limited spaces for larger vehicles.

  • 5/5

wow what a lovely stop the staff are fantastic and the food is the very best . Staff very friendly and let you stay as long as you eat and have a drink. very much recommended ☺️ very close walking distance to the new forest at there back garden would definitely come back again.

  • 5/5

Got there early as advised as limited spaces at back. Quiet stay. Great pub grub. One of the best vegan burgers I’ve ever had. Really friendly small pub with character. 10 minute walk into lyndhurst village centre. And forest trail from pub. Will return.

  • 5/5

Lovely pub with really nice food, bit pricy but worth it when getting free night. Direct access to forest through garden, perfect for dogs and pub is dog friendly.

  • 5/5

Arrived at 8:45PM and they could not have been more accommodating and kept the kitchen open for us. We did not book ahead so the back car park/ camping spaces were full so we stayed in front of the pub which was a little noisy early AM but our own fault for not calling ahead. Food was lovely but expensive, the pub & open fire definitely made up for the price and the staff were absolutely lovely.

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

Stopped over for night based on previous comments. Agree with all of them, friendly, great food, handy stop over in the forest. Highly recommend. One concern, apparently a previous stop over had requested a spot and then didn't turn up don't abuse good will, support those who welcome us.

  • 5/5

Had a great night stay here in July, good food only a few vans stayed over everyone was very friendly. 2 daughters and I had walk in the new forest from the back of the pub garden.

  • 5/5

Nice pub, with a friendly host.

  • 5/5

The staff was really nice and allowed us to stay overnight without hesitation. They also warned us that early in the morning come supply van, but we slept through it. Food in restaurant isn't the cheapest one, but quite good. Right behind restaurant is a path that leads to hills with ponnies.

  • 5/5

Perfect stop over in the New Forest. The food is amazing, the pub is cosy and welcoming ( for children and dogs too) they even bring you some dog treats and a dog bowl! Nice little play area in the garden and direct walks in the forest

  • 3/5

if you don't mind spending the night in a cramped car park( maybe I was unlucky) with 3 or 4 motorhomes. and you want pub grub go for it. I stayed five minutes and headed into the new forrest. plenty of wonderful hidden park ups to yourself to be had. winter only

  • 5/5

Great pub with delicious food and good beer. Given a nice warm welcome and dogs allowed in too. Parking area is flat and easily accessed. You can fairly hear the road noise from inside the van but we both slept really well here. Fantastic walks straight out the back of the pub into the woods for the morning too.

  • 5/5

Just superb. A campers dream. A lovely cosy pub, great food and so friendly. They cooked us food even though the kitchen had just closed (20:30). The baked camembert was very good. Flat parking. our 18ft hymer fitted on perfectly. Lovely location too. Walks and centre very nearby.

  • 5/5

A great place to stay for the night the pub is very warm and welcoming with a beautiful open fire and lovely food and drink, to our surprise they allowed dogs in which was much to our dogs delight and in the morning beautiful surroundings to walk.

  • 5/5

Lovely pub, great location, very friendly owners, roaring fire in October is just wonderful. Would definitely recommend, few steps to the new forest just perfect.

  • 5/5

Lovely food. We had a Sunday roast for around £15. Choices included venison, pork belly, beef and mushroom wellington. Burgers etc. available too. Food orders are taken till around 5pm on a Sunday. Car park was busy. when we arrived (2pm-ish) but we found a space. We had a short walk on the New Forest then sat outside for our food. Great children's outdoor play area.

  • 5/5

The Crown Stirrup - A fantastic old venue, just refreshed and with the new name. The young couple running it are very nice. Happy for people to stay in exchange for eating with them and having a few beverages. The good news is the food is very good.

  • 5/5

Stopped here on a Sunday, got there a little late so. The pub was closed unfortunately but what a lovely spot to stop over. Lovely walk out the back of the pub just on the other side of the picnic benches. Will be back for food one day! There's enough space for a few vans in the side we were, maybe 3 or 4 but saw a van leave from the other side of the pub so probably more.

  • 5/5

Lovely place to stay, car park set back off the road next to the beer garden and with a view of the forest. Staff very accommodating and food great

  • 5/5

We wanted to stay in the new forest and heard we would likely be moved on from lay-bys or carparks, so decided to stay here for the night. The land lady was only too happy to let us stay the night, last orders around 9-9.30. We set off early and had breakfast in the van at the new forest. would stay again!!

  • 5/5

Nice little place to stay; we arrived at about 7pm on a Sunday, by which time they’d finished serving food. But we enjoyed a couple of pints each of the local cider and real ale! Quiet night, with three other vans.

  • 5/5

Thank you so much, lovely pub and great to park.

  • 5/5

Great place to stop overnight we had food and drinks in the pub, great walk out the back of the pub in the forest and very peaceful sleep very nice pub owners.

  • 5/5

Stayed here overnight on 01/05/21. The staff did suggest to sit down for a drink, which is only fair. We ended up having 3 pints and some vegan wings (£22 total),which were very tasty! Dog friendly and have access to the woods through the back garden, which was fab for a walk in the morning. Very peaceful at night time. Car park can accommodate 4 small camper vans comfortably. Highly recommend!

  • 5/5

Brilliant place to stay turned up at 20:30 and the pub had just shut spoke to another campervan owner and they said it was ok to stay will definitely come back and eat and drink in this establishment I would say if have anything bigger than a VW Transporter then you won't fit

  • 5/5

Great spot pub owners are very friendly and let us stay the night as long as we got a drink there

  • 3/5

Stayed 1 night on 08/10/20. Turned up after dark hoping to grab a drink at the pub before bed but it was closed. Looks like the pub is permanently shut, windows are boarded up and there is a 'to let' sign. The car park is still accessible so we decided to stay anyway. Fine place to camp for one night though the road is pretty busy (noisy) and don't expect any facilities in the near future.

  • 3/5

Too small a space for camper van or motor homes. Day vans only to be honest.

  • 5/5

Great place to stop, 4 campers stayed tonight, quiet during the night. Road is busy but not an issue. Pub closing early due to Covid

  • 5/5

    Perfect.

  • 3/5

Lovely looking pub. Fireplace inside and nice cosy atmosphere. Fairy lights all around. Parked up in our campervan, but didn’t stay overnight (though the owner informed us that we would be welcome to) No hook up. Water and toilets available to use in the pub. The food was not enjoyable, very poor quality. It tasted like frozen food cooked in a deep fat fryer. Such a shame as the pub itself and the surroundings are lovely.

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

Pub The Crown and Stirrup- phone ahead. Staff great. Pub food. Garden goes directly into the New Forest. Closes 5pm Sundays. Road busy but not too noisy during the night.
