We were nearly robbed last night. Around 11pm when we were in bed a Mercedes with dark tinted windows parked close in front of us, music blaring, windows open. We just knew what was going on. No other cars parked nearby. They were checking if anyone/awake was in the motorhome. We were dressed in 5 mins. My husband had just peeked through a front blind when we first heard the car park up & the music. I went out through the habitation door to flip back the wing mirror on the road keeping all the other blinds closed. As I walk round the back of the motorhome to get to the mirror a tall man who had gotten out of the car walked really close to me with his hand in his pocket. I think he had a screwdriver to get into the cab through the passenger door. Very scary. I said you’re very close to us. What are you doing? He said going to take a piss & did I want him to move his car? I said no. We were just going to reverse & drive away. I had already checked there wasn’t a vehicle parked behind us so we could leave. He walked over to the grass right by our motorhome to wee. We left & went to Port Solent to park for the night. When we booked in to this free park for night my husband was asked if we had any bikes on the back. There have clearly been problems with bike thefts. Be very careful. Southsea is still Portsmouth & there is alot of crime in the UK.

Great spot! Had a peaceful night here last night. Under 5 min walk to toilets and water tap in D-day Museum Car Park.

Garé un vendredi soir dans cette rue sympa, très bruyante jusqu’à minuit puis très calme le reste de la nuit.

Fantastic location in Southsea for an event we were attending. Near to great restaurants and the sea. We found it quite quiet overnight too. Not far from Southsea pier and DDay attractions. No overnight charge but payment required during the day from 8 am. Campervans allowed but not caravans or buses.

Parked here for 2 nights Friday and Saturday great spot was a little noisy on Saturday night but did settle down later, free to park at night and pay during the day.

Beautiful side street close to the little tea house and close to the splash pool opposite the d-day museum. Lovely tree lined avenue next to a big park. Excellent spot great for several nights 3 min walk to Clarence pier arcades fair ground and fast food outlets. no services. Public toilets just a few minutes walk by Clarence pier. Not open 24 hours. Free to park 6pm to 8am £13.60 for 24 hours

We tried to park up for the night but parking restriction signage has since changed, from 12am-8am signs state NO parking for campervans/motorhomes. This includes the roads alongside the beach. We moved further out of the city and parked at port solent, great spot out there for free. We did however park here during the day using the pay meter so we could see the attractions of Portsmouth (short cycle mostly along the beach path)

Parked on a Friday night for one night. It was reasonably peaceful. There were a couple of boy racers around until around 11 pm, but they didn't bother us too much. This is a street of the main road and is free to park from 6pm until 8am. Would recommend.

Stayed for 2 nights Fri and sat and was peaceful after 11pm. £13 from 8am -6pm. Close to town and 40mins walk to Portsmouth shops too. Great park up. Spent well in nearby garden centre run by volunteers so please check it out. Keep it tidy people and then no issues. Thank you community.

stayed for 1 night was fairly peaceful apart from motorbike gang reving their little 125s other then that close to the seafront and free after 18:00

Second stay this year, perfectly situated for walks along the sea front or to visit local attractions.loads of space free overnight 6pm to 0800. £3.40 for a few extra hours in the morning. surrounded by parks with food options near by. Deducting a point due to boy racers in the area until about 2230. they won't bother you directly but is was an annoyance to what otherwise is a perfect park up.

Perfect spot the visit, the military attractions of Portsmouth, Southsea seafront and Britanny Ferries Terminal a few miles away. No problems for our 7m motorhome, somewhat noisy at times through the evening with boyracers but after 11pm settled down, for a peaceful night

Great place for stop before catching ferry. Short walk to bars and restaurants in Southsea. Some noisy early in night from people going home and passing cars. Free 6pm to 8am.

Just spent 3 nights here. Free 6pm- 8am. £13 per day. Can park for a max 5 days. No restrictions. Quiet overnight, a few boy racers speeding along the road in the evening but otherwise nothing to complain about. Would definitely stay again. There was plenty of spaces the whole time we were there. Southsea marina a couple of miles away will let you empty your Elsan for a charity donation.

Loads of spaces and no restrictions for overnight parking in a campervan. Spaces are small so probably not good for larger motorhomes. It's about £13 for 24 hours.

  • 5/5

As expected, plenty of space for our 7.3m MH. Paid around £10 for 13:00-11:00 (overnight) at Pay station via card, app also available. There were 10+ other vans overnight so felt safe, and room for more. Noisy foxes kept my husband awake, and there was music from nearby bar (sat night) - park in the middle of the street to minimise this. Would return.

Nice spot in pretty tree lined street with fairy lights. Parking free from 6pm -8am. Short walk for bars and restaurants and sea front. Great for dog walking as large green area. Nice and quiet

Nous avons stationné là une journée (payant) et même la nuit. Calme et il semble y avoir toujours de la place.

  • 4/5

Parked alongside this quiet tree street in 2.5m width bays behind two other Motorhomes. 5 minutes walk to the seafront lighthouse and also into Southsea restaurants and shops. No charge from 6pm to 8am. Otherwise £2 for one hour rising to £13.50 for over 8 hours. Using the App you can pay charges online in advance for the morning and extend your stay remotely if you’re delayed returning.

It sure wasn’t good for us. My E bike was stolen from our Motorhome bike rack whilst we slept. Hubby heard a faint sound and disturbed the evil individuals before they nicked his much better bike too.Locks broken through and rack straps sliced open. This area is also in a clean air zone. Not a great start to our French adventure.
