very welcoming. I phoned the day before to check availability, very friendly on the phone and assured me that there would be room and that it's free (just pop in for food or drink). we arrived and went for a walk down to the beach and returned for a drink before settling down for tea in the van. watched a beautiful sunset from the van. highly recommend. very peaceful place. what a nice place this is. nice walks with my dog, and nice pub. Did not have anything to eat, because the kitchen was closed so I just had a pint. just stayed one night. Thanks so much.
Ein unglaublich netter Betreiber des Pubs, der sofort zustimmt, dass man über Nacht stehen bleiben darf. Wir würden auf der Reise zur Fähre jedes Mal wieder kommen!!
Schöner pub und schöner (wenn auch schräger) Platz
Wir haben diesen Ort geliebt! Wir haben im Pub gefragt, war kein Problem, haben am Ende doch nicht dort gegessen weil wir noch Reste verwerten mussten. War aber auch in Ordnung. 3 Campingtische mit tollen Blick aufs Meer mit Sonnenuntergang. Gelegentlich hört man Autos und Motorräder aber alles okay.
Parkplatz vom Pub "The Tavern". Haben im Pub angefragt, ob wir mit dem Wohnmobil übernachten dürfen, war kein Problem. Haben dort natürlich auch zu Abend gegessen. Leckeres Essen und gutes Bier, tolle Pub-Atmosphäre. Hunde erlaubt und willkommen. Ruhiger Platz für die Nacht. Tolle Aussicht, zudem kann man (links) den Weg an den Klippen recht weit entlang laufen und kommt dort auch an den Strand.
Lovely friendly pub with good value food. Free to stay if you’re eating. Awesome views. It gets busy so park facing out if you need to get away early. I felt safe here all night. The steps to the beach are in front of The Smugglers Pub. Quiet pebbly beach with rock pools. Dog friendly everywhere! Nice cafe Yemeni Coffee Co about 20 minutes walk (east) along cliff path.
Lots of space, slightly inclined, directly at the cliff with nice view. Very quiet. Behind the pub, with good food at fair prices and friendly staff. No facilities besides the pub itself.

Guter Übernachtungsplatz, freundlicher Empfang, die Straße hört man allerdings schon ziemlich laut. Essen ok, alle 15 Minuten Bus ins nicht besonders interessante Brighton .Schöne Wanderungen auf dem Weg oberhalb der Klippen, tolle Aussicht und in 10 Minuten über Treppen zu einem kleinen Strand, wo man auch gut baden kann.
Standen hier für eine Nacht, hatten super Abendessen vom mega freundlichen Personal. Gerne wieder.
Stopped here 1 night before going to the Newhaven ferry in the morning. Great view and quiet enough at night to sleep away from the road. We had food and drinks in the bar which was a good price. staff very friendly. Also had a nice walk in the morning.
A good place to stop prior to ferry. Good walk for dog along cliffs. Super friendly bar with great food. Thank you to the bar owner for allowing me to stay, felt safe.
Nach einem Schaden am Wohnmobil durften wir hier übernachten. Ein hervorragender Pub wie man es sich vorstellt. Inhaber und Personal unglaublich Freundlich. Nur zu empfehlen!
Amazing spot! not too close to the road. on top of the cliffs. ground not even, but we could make it better with the leveling ramps. good and relaxing walk. nice pub.
Prima, rustige plek om te overnachten, alhoewel we heel slecht weer met storm hadden. Er werd ons door de vriendelijke eigenaar gezegd, dat we geen verplichtingen hadden om wat te eten of te drinken, we hebben het wel gedaan, was lekker. Bedankt voor de gastvrijheid!

Great Stop. Handy to have a place right on the cliffs behind the pub. The car park is steeply sloped so couldn’t get close to level, however the price was right. The pub serves meals until 8 pm and was moderately priced. Definitely recommend for an overnight stay.
Great place to park up for the night and walk along the cliffs.Would be very convenient for before or after catching the Newhaven- Dieppe ferry. Warm welcome from friendly pub owners. Had a drink and something to eat but no obligation to do so I don’t think. Really peaceful at night even though not far from the road. Felt safe and secure. A big thank you to the pub owners for providing this.

Superschöner Platz mit Tischen und Bänken direkt an den Klippen. Das Essen (Voraussetzung um dort Übernachten zu dürften) im Pub ist ebenso toll. Richtig toller, besonderer Stellplatz. Direkt vor dem Pub fährt auch ein Bus in die umliegenden Städte.
Very nice spot! Coast view is beautiful and the bar mate is very kind and helpful!!! Definitely worth it! They don’t take donations but they are thankful if you come by and have a drink or meal in the pub!
Wir hatten Glück und bekamen einen Platz ohne Probleme. Sehr freundlich, aber auch sehr stürmisch. Für eine Nacht okay.
Super nett und unkompliziert. Eine telefonische Verbuchung wir hier allerdings seit neustem erwünscht. Wir hatten Glück das noch ein platz frei war! Aber so war es auch kein Problem. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!
Très bien pour passer une nuit à condition de consommer (repas non obligatoire, nous avons seulement pris des boissons). Se mettre sur le haut du parking (en gravier), légèrement en pente, besoin de cales. Propriétaires très sympas, chiens acceptés au pub (avec une friandise). Point de départ pour balades sur le front de mer.
Sehr nette Barkeeper, gutes Essen, tolle Aussicht mit Essmöglichkeit, angenehme Stellplätze (manche etwas schief), direkt daneben kann man auf einen Klippenweg gehen.
Schöne Aussicht, sehr sicher. Der Barmann ist super nett. Essen gab es leider nicht, dafür aber Bier! Im Ort gibt es einige Restaurants, also Top Pubstay! Die Hauptstraße ist zwar gleich hinter dem Pub, aber das Meer ist lauter!
Waouwww!!! On adore l’endroit rien qu’à voir la déco intérieur. Ensuite l’accueil est super, gratuit sans service juste consommer, et une superbe vue sur la mer on reviendra

We used the Tavern as a motorhome stop over for the night. Lovely spot by the cliffs and so near to Brighton. The landlord was welcoming, friendly and helpful (came out to show us the best place to park. Our evening meal was very tasty and good value. Can get busy with MH's so advisable to call ahead. The carpark does slope somewhat but park at the top on the gravel and it's possible to get level

Perfect spot to spend a night! We asked in the pub if it was ok to park for the night and they said no issue at all. Went for a lovely Cider and would have bought some food as well, but kitchen closed at 20:30 and we only arrived at 22:00. Not that much noise (as much as you would expect next to a pub) and amazing view in the morning. Would definitely park here again!
Haven’t completed the night yet but so far so good! Pub plays exclusively country bangers, staff super friendly- toilets during open hours. Can get pretty level-ish if you park up on the gravel section facing the sea. Good views too if you walk 20 seconds towards the cliff edge from the carpark.
Very friendly landlord and great food, nice views along the cliffs. Bit exposed (clifftop in march!?) and sloping site but great otherwise.
Extremely friendly staff and customers. We’re more than happy for me to stay overnight. Had a lovely meal and a beer. Would definitely come again if I’m down this way

I was told that the management no longer allows Camper Vans to stay over night. Had to move on.
Recommended stopover before/after Newhaven Ferry. Friendly welcome from the landlady and her staff. Good fish & chip supper. Toilets during opening hours, water and bins. Supermarkets and shops nearby. Coastal path for walks and views. We levelled up at the back of the car park, no problem, and had a quiet night. Thank you for your kind hospitality, until we return!

We stayed here, food was good, had a few drinks, all the staff was very friendly, we asked to stay the night, without hesitation yes you can stay, there is a view at the top of the carpark, there is a bit of traffic noise, if your tired you'll sleep, we had no problems whatsoever, would use this place again..
Ok, there is no view hence the 4 stars. But the pub is good, the staff is very kind and friendly, and I had one of the best fish and chips of my life. It is slightly tucked away from the main road (which gets pretty busy in the morning). A lot more down to Earth than the nearby smugglers rest. Definitely recommend this place.

The Tavern’s car park and has a picnic area belonging to the pub which has fantastic views. Food in pub is great. Lovely walks along the base of the cliffs and tops.
Environnement très moyen, pas de vue... Prévoir grandes cales... Nous ne sommes pas resté..
