This is a lovely park up with level parking, also It’s quiet. There are plenty of spaces for camper vans, but you do have to pay to stay, the paying hours are unusual. There is a lovely hotel we had drinks in, quite reasonable prices.

  • 5/5

What a place to wake up to on Xmas day! Heated toilets open all night. Minimal wind and super quiet with only a few campers. Worth the money

  • 5/5

Fantastic park up. Toilets open all night and bar less than 5 minutes walk away. Quite night with only the hoot of an owl. Highly recommend.

  • 5/5

Just had 2 nights here £25 parked behind the Aquarium loads of room. Toilets open 24 hrs found an outside tap on the men’s side of toilet block which I was able to fill my Aquaroll from but waited until after they closed. Felt safe as there was 4 MH on first night and more on the second really quite except for the Owl. Definitely will come back here

  • 5/5

Quiet, lots of space and felt safe. Toilet available on the train/boat platform that short walk from the back car park

  • 5/5

Stayed here for 2 nights mid August. Was very peaceful and great location.

  • 5/5

I stayed here a few weeks ago in my roof tent .it was so nice to be able to pull up and have a little walk at the side of the lake, use the toilets and grab a drink in the hotel near by. (always try to buy local). yes the back car park has no view but soon as I woke I was of out exploring so this was the perfect overnight stay. going to be heading back in a few weeks.

  • 5/5

Good spot for arriving into the Lake District. Quiet and safe, few other campers around. Clean toilets open all night and water tap next to them. £5 for 10 hours was extremely reasonable and the views over the lake are beautiful. I had dinner with the view but parked up for the night in the back car park.

  • 5/5

Ideal for a night's sleep. Parked out of the way of the busier parking for the boats and aquarium, there's plenty of space here for larger motorhomes, although you might have to share the space with parked touring cars and such. Lovely short walk down the train tracks, easy access to the ferry and station where there are 24h toilets. Simple but sufficient.

  • 4/5

Good big space, very quiet area no noise. Paid £5 for 10 hours. Toilets are open 24hour they are at the other side of the railway track.

  • 5/5

Considering the location of this place to be able to park up here is a treat in itself. £5 for 10 hours is a bargain too. There’s toilets which are open all night on the train/ferry platform that are nice and clean. We parked right at the back out of the way of the crowded ferry and aquarium crowds. Nice and quiet at night.

  • 5/5

Great find. There’s toilets and it’s quiet. £5 for 10hrs. We arrived at 11pm and had no problem finding a space. Felt safe too. Watch out for the fighter jets flying overhead at 8am- amazing to see and VERY loud .

  • 4/5

Nice park up, stayed in the back car park and it was nice and quiet with some nice walks in the area, toilets on site and I would definitely stop here again.

  • 5/5

Peaceful and spacious car park, £5 for 10 hours, no restrictions/signage. Toilets open at night and clean, walk into woodland nearby.

  • 5/5

Excellent stop over. Safe and secure. Toilets and bins. Cafe, hotel, restaurant and aquarium. Peaceful night sleep.

  • 5/5

Excellent stop over for the night. Safe and secure we had coffee in the hotel bar before bed and the next morning we went in the aquarium with the kids: parking as £10 for 24 hours. Water and toilets provided but we had our own. Would definitely come again

  • 3/5

Lovely spot with a cafe, shop and aquarium and incredible view however motorhomes have to park in the back carpark, with no view at all. We looked round for a bit then chose to find somewhere with a better view for us.

  • 3/5

Saw a few people getting parking tickets so make sure you pay and display, £5 for 10 hours is really reasonable. Toilets are on the station platform , so if you park in 1st car park over looking the lake then you're really close, however that is the busiest area. We parked in the overspill car park, along with approx 6/7 other campers so was a little more peaceful until about 8am.

  • 4/5

Parking permettant de passer la nuit avec sanitaires pour 10 livres. Pas de vue sur le lac. Pour avoir la vue, il faut s'installer sur la première partie mais se retirer avant 9h.

  • 5/5

Stayed here for one night, it was £5 for 10 hours (overnight) and we were one of two campers. The view was beautiful. Toilets open 24 hours. Would stay here again! Couldn’t believe our luck.

  • 5/5

£5 for 10 hours! Overnight parking welcome! 24hr toilets!! Perfect!

  • 5/5

Fabulous place to stop for the night. Nice and clean plenty of bins and toilets. Felt very safe all night.

  • 5/5

We stayed here in our roof tent and thought it was a fantastic stop. We managed to get the end space right next to the lake which was fab for opening a roof tent up. There was a few campers and another roof tent there. The toilets were open all night and were decent. We would stop here again! We paid £5 for 10 hours and £3 for 2 hours.

  • 5/5

Loads of spaces and friendly staff. £5 for 10 hours from the machine or you can pay for longer if you arrive while the booth is open. Clean toilets which are open all night. I'll be stopping here again.

  • 5/5

great night spent on 15/4/24 lovely view, toilets open all night.

  • 5/5

Stayed 1 night. £10 paid at the red kiosk. Peaceful night and a few other campers. Nice location next to the lake and our kids loved the steam train. Did not manage the aquarium.

  • 5/5

Stayed the 1 night, toilets on train platform open all night, stone throw from the lake & plenty of other vans there already. Arrived after the red kiosk had closed so had to pay on the machine. You can only pay for 10 hours for £5. So i paid for 10 hours when I arrived at 6.30 pm, them paid for another 10 hours at 11pm before bed so I didn't have to get up early hours and I had paid the same as the £10 over night charge

  • 5/5

Stayed at this excellent location,Staff are really friendly and helpful..but are getting tired of the odd few either not paying or acting like animals, leaving rubbish around and emptying toilet in toilet block. Please behave responsibly, and pay, or the likes of these places who let us stay will disappear..Toilets are very clean, cafe is really nice, area very quiet on a night, no disturbances…

  • 5/5

2 car parks w hard surfaces. The first is by the lake & hotel/spa it’s slightly sloped and was empty so we went to the car park past the Aquarian. Satnav bought us here. Signal and 4G okay! Card accepted. Peaceful stop, we weren’t disturbed. Saw the steam train come in this morning and strolled to the other car park where we saw a pretty misty lake. Fab overnight stop before we head up to Keswick!

  • 5/5

What a Perfect park up in a nice level car park a stones throw away from the lake. The Toilets were open all night and were clean and tidy. Very quiet when we stayed although clearly out of season this may change during the summer months. We would 100% recommend coming here and enjoying the local area

  • 5/5

Quiet and flat out of season. £5 per 10 hours. Overnight allowed. Only 3 vans on our night.

  • 5/5

Spoke with the warden checking tickets. This fantastic ‘site’ may be closed in the future. Please just pay the excellent £10 for 24hrs & don’t abuse the warden if you are caught not paying, do not empty your chemical loos either in the toilets or the skip (!!!! YUK) and don’t dump your litter anywhere but a bin!! As usual the few are going to spoil it for the majority!!

  • 5/5

Lovely spot for the night with a lovely view of the water. Pay and display £8 over night. Toilets on site and bins too.

  • 4/5

stayed here acouple of nights, 10 for 24hrs parking, toilet on site, really quite night, no traffic only hotel guests. would definitely use again, plenty of spots for motorhomes.

  • 5/5

£5 for 10 hours, very good, do not put your waste water down the toilets, take it away with you or they will close this ideal spot down, don't spoil it for others.

  • 4/5

Really fantastic view of the lake. It was extremely busy when we arrived, but we parked at the back of the car park and moved once the boat trips stopped running. One payment machine accepted card. There was quite a lot of other campers but it was not too noisy. There is a path at the back of carpark next to the train track to walk the dog, but there are sheep (warning for high prey drive dogs).

  • 5/5

Postcode took us straight to the car park, busy during the day so we parked at the back car park then moved to the lake when the boat trips had stop running, we parked in the corner next to the lake so we had lots of room to sit with camping chairs and there was a few campers which was nice! 2 lovely walks down the train tracks and river where people do water sports and a nice scenic bike ride.

  • 5/5

This spot is amazing. If you get lost, just try to reach the Aquarium and go as close as possible to the river. As soon as you reach the river, you will be there. The hotel is nearby, so may have a bit of noise - not much to be fair. Important note: bring coins with you. No card accepted. I reiterate: PLEASE BRING COINS WITH YOU, NO CREDIT CARD ACCEPTED. All and all, this is a great spot.

  • 5/5

Great flat spot, little cafe at the train station platform along with clean toilets. Stayed in back part of the car park, very quiet and peaceful. Great for a lie in after a long drive up from Southampton. 5 other campervans. £5 for 10 hours. Great location.

  • 4/5

Nice location with lots of parking. More parking round the back of the aquarium but no lake views from there. Good toilets.

  • 5/5

stayed Friday lovely place to stay £4.50 for 10 hrs in day .never payed over night just put a ticket on at 8 in morning till I went .the give another van my ticket

  • 5/5

Got here late Friday night, found a good flat spot, didn’t pay for the over night as it was late but paid for parking in the day

  • 5/5

Amazing! Price is £4.50 for 10 hours. Wake up to a lake view.

  • 5/5

    Ticket machine now takes cards.

  • 5/5

Brilliant stopover with an amazing view over Windermere. So peaceful in the evening once the ferries have stopped running.

  • 4/5

Lovely place to park up and chill. Didn’t stay but seemed easy enough. Toilets to use and nice view of lake!

  • 5/5

Stayed for 2 consecutive nights, lovely, peaceful and quiet at night, carpark at the rear of the aquarium is secluded, and on a clear night the sky's amazing. The Lakeside hotel looks beautiful and we popped in for a couple of drinks and a meal, unfortunately they don't make food for the public. They are really missing a trick here IMO

  • 4/5

lovely views in the first carpark Infront of the aquarium, there are toilets on the station platform but if you park behind the aquarium you'll have more of a walk to them, paid to stay the night but seen plenty people not paying and nobody checking!! so you take yer chance. carpark gets very busy during the day

  • 5/5

Fabulous views across the lake, stayed 1 night popping into the hotel next door to spot for a pint and a cocktail! Ferries stopped from about 6pm so quiet from then and car park empty except for 2 other vans and a few cars from the hotel. Take a torch for the toilets as although open 24hrs could not find any lighting this particular night. Paid £9 for overnight parking. Definitely use again

  • 5/5

Stayed here as it was late, and one of the only places around. We got here late, and didn’t have cash so did not pay and display (we didn’t get a ticket or approached by anyone; but left early). Toilets are 24/7, and although you can get water, it was frozen over. We went to the motor museum, and they gave us water there, as we both paid to go in and just asked the lady. Recommend here 100%!

  • 5/5

Lovely! Postcode doesn’t take you to the exact place, it’s a little further down. The view is beautiful.. we didn’t have cash for parking and the ticket office was shut so we asked in the hotel and the guy said don’t bother paying, there’s no cctv. So we had a free stay! ☺️ toilets are spotless and just overall a lovely place.

  • 5/5

Really friendly staff in the red ticket office £4:50 for ten hours and you can stay as long as you like if you keep buying tickets, clean toilets and hot water open 24hrs in the train platform , great view of the lake and really peaceful, also you can use the hotel bar next door. Highly recommended

  • 5/5

Stayed here a few nights ago and had a beautiful view of the lake, would recommend!

  • 5/5

Stayed here early Sept. Beautiful spot. We parked in the front car park right by the water. £9 for 20 hours. Toilets on platform open all night.

  • 5/5

lovely stop. Best in the area. £10 overnight. toilets open 24/7. very friendly atmosphere- so make sure we respect this welcoming stop over.

  • 5/5

Arrived at 8pm, paid £2.50 for 2 hrs and put another ticket of £4.50 on at 10pm so we had 12 hrs parking for £8. Toilets open all the time and stunning view over the water.

  • 5/5

Lovely spot, toilets, water £9 for 20 hours parking.

  • 5/5

Must be one of the best spots in the lakes. Right next to the lake and 24hour toilets available down the far end of the train platform facing the water. Road says closed at the moment but I arrived at 9pm and was able to drive straight through without any diversion signs.

  • 1/5

all roads leading to this site is currently closed and diversion is single lane roads so tricky in a camper.

  • 5/5

paid the £4.50 for 10 hours but I don't think anyone cares really. there is loads to do from here. an aquarium, boat trips, train rides, cafés, etc. Great spot and plenty of room

  • 5/5

Fantastic spot. Stayed the night last night trouble free. Beautiful views, and just round the corner from Fell Foot where we are spending today. No noise, only one other camper on the front car park (where the views are), couple on the back car park too.

  • 5/5

Stayed here recently, perfect for our needs we done a night of car camping was very quiet toilets on the platform. Felt safe and plenty of space. Note: the machine takes cash only. The car park is behind the lakeside hotel and spa if you end up in a residential area, that’s not it. Staff were lovely next day when we took a train and boat.

  • 5/5

What a fantastic find. Big car park so any size van can park in the rear car park. £4.50 for overnight, they say 10 hours but they are very flexible with the timing as long as you purchased 2 tickets which takes you to 10 hours. Toilets in the platform and a water tap. We have 2 Labradors so found a spot near the hotel to throw a stick in the water for them to swim and cool down! Definitely a spot we will use over and over again!

  • 5/5

Was so peaceful and very dark of a night great view £9 for the night we arrived at 3:30 and left at 10:30 the following morning

  • 4/5

We arrived before the train booth closed and paid for parking by card, overwise cash in machine, £9 for overnight. Great location next to lake. Roads are narrow getting to location.

  • 4/5

Assez bien, beaucoup de place, ok pour une nuit calme mais pas plus

  • 4/5

Great place to stop, views amazing, pub beside car park and toilets open all night. ❤️

  • 5/5

Belter of a place.... going on the train tmrw morning and aquarium in the afternoon. 4.50 great price.

  • 1/5

Please do drive down any residential streets. They are all dead ends and have no turning or lake access. This is not the access to the car park. Car park postcode is LA12 8AT, and is located next to the very large and obvious Lakeside Hotel and Aquarium.

  • 5/5

Bastante sombra. Llegamos por la mañana y nos dicen que con un ticket de 10 horas es suficiente hasta el día siguiente si nos vamos antes de las 9.

  • 5/5

Great spot for overnight or even during the day. £4.50 for 10hours, bargain in the lakes Water taps and 24/7 toilets - best view we've had of the lake for an overnighter even beats paying £30a night on a Campsite.

  • 5/5

Cracking spot, toilets on platform 24/7, free water tap on platform too, so peaceful at night, no need for ticket overnight only from 9am-5pm although no one was checking and two out of the three machines were broken, tickets can also be purchased from train/boat office on platform. Get the train and Bowness return pass for £21, such a good day out, train at 1020am back for 1120 for boat

  • 5/5

4.50 for 10 hours lovely views. Nice and quite aswell there is a toilet near the car park that's open 24hrs so that's a nice touch. there's a hotel and bar nearby although they don't sell food to none hotel guests for some profound reason. anyway the stay here is very pleasant.

  • 5/5

Stayed here last night, really quite and no one bothered us. Loads of parking for many vans.

  • 5/5

fantastic little park up, 4.50 for 10 hours toilets on platform, lovely view of lake at top or car park, definitely worth the stay very quiet, plenty of space for vans and cars, about 100 spaces

  • 4/5

Excellent location but note cash payment at machine only.

  • 5/5

Stayed here last night, plenty of space and quiet. £4.50 for 10 hours, machine takes cash or card/contactless. Toilets on the station platform clean. You can get a drink at the Lakeside Hotel with great views of the lake. Not much to see in the main carpark where we stayed the night.

  • 5/5

easy to park with lake ferries and train on your door step if you want to explore. drove here in the motor home taking my time as the road is a little narrow and windy but it is my first week driving a 3 ton truck. well worth it

  • 5/5

Nice quiet stopover for £4.50, you can pay at the kiosk if you arrive during opening hours. Plenty of space when we arrived.

  • 5/5

Really quiet peaceful place to stay next to the Lakes Aquarium with 200 spaces. Beautiful views Cash ONLY pay and display £4.50 for 10 hours. Toilets open 24/7 on the station platform. 100% recommend staying here.

  • 5/5

Nice quiet car park next to the lake. Pay and display needs cash if you arrive after the ferry ticket office closes. A couple of other vans here. Very peaceful night, slept right through. I hadn't realised, but our ticket ran out at 7am, but we left once we woke and no issue. Added bonus is there's a toilet that's open all night on the station platform which was clean enough.

  • 5/5

A beautiful location and very peaceful. We will definitely be back! By the time we arrived the kiosk had closed so we paid for 10 hours at the machine. This ticket gave us until 5am so we had to set an alarm to go and get another ticket. However, when we checked with the ladies in the kiosk they said you can just buy 2 10 hour tickets at the same time and they will allow a 20 hour stay.

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

Stayed last night… perfect location. Paid the ladies at the ticket office for two 10 hr spots. Quite, beautiful and restful.

  • 5/5

peaceful. stars amazing. took some stunning photos. ground level. plenty of parking spaces. no card payments only cash for parking. toilets open 24hrs.

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

great stop over, nice views and very quiet. might be worse in the summer

  • 5/5

Lovely spot, view is gorgeous right on the lake.meter says £4.50 for 10 hrs however I spoke the guys who works there,he said £ goes to them & £4.50 will cover a full night, they just appreciate after covid. PLEASE contribute, unlike some, DON'T drop your grey water in the middle of the car park! Were it can go into the lake. The van who done this was seen on camera and they have taken your reg

  • 5/5

Great spot for NYE. Lots of vans here and great display from the hotel next door! £4.50 for 10hrs in change at pay & display, as others have mentioned. Toilets open on station platform as well, very well maintained.

  • 5/5

Great stop over, New Year’s Eve. Arrived at 4pm and paid for 10 hours £4.50 using my bank card at the ticket office, told I would only need to pay again at 9am. Flat car park, clean toilets and water on the station platform. We parked overlooking the lake and Hotel. Free firework display courtesy of the Lakeside hotel. Bonus Happy new year

  • 5/5

Great little place to stop, very peaceful and easy to use. As others have said there are toilets and water open 24 hours and £4.50 for 10 hours worked well for us. We stayed right next to the lake and boat docking area and there was no noise from the hotel right next to us.

  • 4/5

Peaceful night on the shores of Windermere, toilet on the station platform open all night. Well worth £4.50 in the machine. Take coins.

  • 4/5

Parked on the further area of the car park. As not as busy, train toilets open all night on the platform, added bonus. Parked up, slept well, didn't hear anybody around. Parked by the lake for breaki then on our way. £4.50 in coins for a 10hr stay. 24hr car park.

  • 5/5

Stayed last night with no problems 2staff walked past a few times . Parked right out the way near the train signal hut .very dark at night if you have a dog take a good torch . Will definitely stay again

  • 5/5

We turned up at 9.30 in the dark, paid the £4.50 in cash (thanks for the heads up) and had a very peaceful sleep. In the morning we woke to the most wonderful view of the lake, toilets are on the train platform which are indeed open and didn't see any signs for no overnight (2 other vans stayed the night we were there) Just perfect

  • 1/5

Great Location but we arrived at 10:30pm in the rain only to find the machine was coins only. After realising we didn't have enough we headed somewhere else that we could pay by card /phone (Rayrigg).
