Parking area near Santon Down near the Little River Ouse, with lovely walks along the river and through Thetford Forest. Close to the train tracks, but hardly noticed as most fast trains wizz silently past and none overnight. Poor mobile signal. Area mostly flat. No night restrictions, I have stayed here several times. Remember it is a stop over not a campsite, so don't put things outside and take all litter home.

Spent a comfortable night here with lovely walks all around. Mostly level with space for 6+ vehicles. We were the only van overnight but the car park was full of cars mid-morning with walkers. You can hear trains and the crossing signal but it didn’t disturb us. Would return again.

great night here. can hear the trains planes and gate signal but stopped by 11. forest is beautiful

Brilliant spot! Loads of frogs around August time of year so watch out for them if you go hiking or biking. Nice river walk right by it, make sure to wear long trousers as there’s loads of nettles. Trains go by really close but you can barely hear it. Loads of space. Bare in mind there’s no phone signal which can be seen as a bonus

Spent 2 nights here, very quiet and cosy and met a smashing family with their Iveco van. some great walks and just so you know phone signal is non existent which is a big plus. No bins so please take rubbish away.

a lovely quiet spot, some locals sat on a Saturday night but laft not long after we arrived. no troubles at all, very clean

Had a reasonable stop-over at this spot in Nov 2024. We were the only ones there and it was quiet (apart from the odd train going past) and 'level enough' Some confidence needed in navigating the rutted terrain but otherwise I'd recommend

Now open again but bumpier! Heavily rutted by trucks

    Currently closed and blocked off

Gorgeous spot for a night out camping. Parked up the road a bit with three other mid sized motorhomes- could easily fit more. Highly recommend

Didn't stop as the place was rammed with an odd selection of vehicles including a coach! The site was fairly uneven and some of the more level areas had low branches that we're not suitable for the pop top, large puddles and we didn't feel could safely let the dog out and so we moved on.

I've stayed a couple of times, minimal noise, only a few stops are level enough for a decent night sleep. Be Aware the bridge over the nearby river has 6'6" and 3t mgw restrictions

checked it out but didn't stay over night..very uneven with some large puddles after rain..very rural so I'd imagine you'd get a decent night's sleep..

Arrived around 7pm on a Sunday night 12th June and apart from one couple arriving for a walk we saw no-one. Trains track is adjacent but you get used to it! No signs. Terrific location but there were beer cans and bottles left under the trees. The couple we saw arriving for a walk said the area can sometimes get busy Friday/Saturday with drinkers etc, so I'd suggest avoiding on those nights.

Great place to park up for a night, plenty of great dog walking opportunities nearby, we stayed on a week night and saw literally no one except a park ranger dude, who was friendly. No dogging as I've seen in other reviews! Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was the railway so close and while the noise from the trains is small there's a really annoying warning siren as there's no crossing gate!

  • 4/5

easy to find but having read after arriving that its a potential dogging site we didn't sleep as easily as we should have. 11:30 a couple of cars arrived and we couldn't settle till they had gone. train noise is regular but not an issue as its smooth, apart from our own worries it is a quiet spot in reality.

Stayed 1 night on 08.09.21, very peaceful night, no disturbances, would stay there again No signs saying overnight parking not allowed

A really nice quiet spot with minimal noise from train track. There was a small amount of dogging activity early evening but nothing through the night allowing a peaceful sleep. A good spot recommended. No signs saying no overnight camping.
