Great Stop. Good access some potholes. Level Ground. Great views over the Solway Firth. Quiet nights sleep. Short walk to local shops and pubs. will definitely return.

  • 4/5

mostly level,a couple of boy racers drove by, otherwise nice n quiet

  • 5/5

Wild and windy! Lost my external screen cover at 5am! Great place to stop. Would happily return.

  • 5/5

We’ve just had a very peaceful night here, lovely views and few people about. The fishermen went home and left just a few vans to enjoy the evening. This morning a seal was bobbing about just off the pier.

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

stayed Thursday to Saturday beautiful coastal views quite friendly lots of spaces and free . There are plenty of things for children locally

  • 4/5

sorry but over saturated. local youth's are annoying and the usuall 10.00 arrivals making their beds up to much. seek elsewhere if you want peace

  • 3/5

lovely views, and decent signal, but plagued with boy racers and litter.

  • 5/5

Seems like a nice park up another 5 vans here at the minute and a couple of people fishing down on the beach

  • 5/5

A perfect place to spend the night. Plenty of room, mostly flat and with the sea view to wake up to.

  • 5/5

nice place quiet stay here a few times good for fishing

  • 4/5

Lovely spot overlooking the sea. In sunny weather it would be perfect we had wind and rain! Peaceful night. Bins on tarmac car park. Public toilets in Irish St car park nearby.

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

great place for a stopover, right on the sea front, plenty of other camper vans there too.

  • 5/5

Great spot overlooking the sea with room for loads of vans...10 minute walk into town for shops and bars ect...Thanks to maryport council for allowing us to use this area so please keep it clean snd tidy

  • 5/5

I am here tonight (26/12/24). The only signs restricting parking are around the harbour. This area of rough parking above the beach (beyond the lighthouse) has no restrictions. A very peaceful spot - so long as the wind is kind to you!

  • 1/5

just stayed at harbouring campsite and walked over this area. there are no overnight parking signs up. 11.12.2024. just in everyone's interest.

  • 5/5

Amazing free park up. Compacted beach front. Got there about 10pm / high tide and were literally 20 feet from the sea. Good nights sleep with just the sounds of the waves. A few fishermen / dog walkers in the morning. Night 2 was a bit wilder as we were right in the middle of Storm Ashley! Still another couple of vans here though. Pubs/restaurants are about 10 mins walk away and are very friendly

  • 5/5

Great spot popular with the over nighters. Lots of comings and goings. Beautiful day with sun and light wind. Perfect stopover if you have kids. 5G on EE

  • 5/5

Stunning sunset, a bit blustery but wouldn't expect anything less, late night fishermen but no disturbance at all very peaceful

  • 3/5

Free parking, good signal too. Seemed to be a popular spot for overnighters. Quite a few cars coming and going up until around 12/1am but extremely quiet after that. No facilities but they have a bin. Lovely views, few places quite close that you can explore. Bright headlights from the constant cars can be irritating but nice once it’s settled.

  • 5/5

sehr schöner Platz keine Höhenbeschrankung , Mülltonne vor Ort, ruhige Nacht

  • 5/5

Simply fabulous views stayed on the hardcore beach area around 10 units here when I arrived after checking out all the spots in Maryport , right at the edge of the sea was a bit windy but nothing to worry me the sunset was Amazing decent phone signal with EE , short walk into town for shops and pubs etc toilets close by but locked at night All Maryport stopover spots look good

  • 4/5

Great place to stay and bins as well leave it as you find it

  • 4/5

trés bon spot et nuit calme après que quelques quad et mini moto soient parti. pas toilettes.

  • 5/5

Absolute must.. great spot. What’s not to like. It’s free beautiful setting over the sea. Beach walks and off road grass walks with dogs was superb. Very quiet after 10pm only 3 vans parked up. Few locals with quad bikes and cars but not an issue. Very friendly and left after an hour. Sunset amazing. Highly recommend.

  • 5/5

Amazing little spot, I say little, it's quite a sizeable spot with plenty of parking, lots of level spots, beautiful views, I'll echo what many have said, the wind is a bit strong at times, but you can't have it all, I arrived a day when the RAF put on a parachute display, would definitely recommend to anyone in any size van or MH....

  • 4/5

Stayed here for two nights, the only noise you get is the waves on the stoney beach. Great if you love sea fishing, beachcaster equipment required. Would definitely recommend it. Good chip shop in town called Cross Keys.

  • 5/5

A great place for an overnight stop. Bins there for the rubbish and a bit of a walk to town but really quiet and loads of other campers there too. Call to the Lifeboat bar in town. It’s the cheapest beer in the Lake District. Sit back and watch the beach fishermen

  • 5/5

Rustige plaats en inderdaad veel vissers.

  • 5/5

Perfect spot! you fall asleep to the sound of breaking waves and wake up to the sound of bird song, nice big flat parking area, out of sight of everyone but close enough to walk into the town and the marina cafe where I can recommend the breakfast, had a very peaceful nights sleep here and everyone we spoke to seemed very friendly as well.

  • 5/5

Stayed on 20/5 - super location, very quiet, lots of space. Ideal for walk into Maryport. Clean and tidy. Will use again.

  • 5/5

Spent last night here. Loverly & peaceful. Lots of sea birds everywhere. Arrived mid afternoon, there were 4 vans all ready, loads of space for everybody. Reasonable tv signal. 2 out of 4 bars on EE. Streamed no problem. Take care as you enter the unmade up gravel area, there’s a big drop in the level, it could easy catch something under the van.

  • 5/5

perfect stop over. toilets around 10 min walk away

  • 5/5

Stayed here last night. The views are amazing. We sat and watched the sun set. It was busy with other vans, but there was still room. A very peaceful night was had. Also very good reception on three mobile .

  • 5/5

parked here for the night very windy but great no problems

  • 5/5

Great views and nice quiet :)

  • 5/5

Wow, lovely place to stop, if the weather was fine the beach on the doorstep, parked up for hour or so the gale hit salty sea water being blown over the van, the wind was rocking the van so moved on to the road behind the bank adjacent to the marina, very quiet. Noticed no stopover signs in the area near the lock gates, lovely place to stop, definitely be going back during the summer months.

  • 4/5

Lovely place to stop with great views although during the night someone had thrown rubbish under and around my van, while making morning coffee was wondering why so many people were looking in my direction, all picked up but please check before you drive away

  • 5/5

Maryport local and van user here. We don't mind overnight parking at all. You are welcome. But I would only use the coastal stops in good weather as high wind will cover your van with salt water and storm seas can be as high as the wall at the top of the slope behind you. Maryport's bad reputation is laughable, you are welcome to stay

  • 4/5

Fijne plek, met veel ruimte voor verschillende voertuigen. Wel druk met mensen en vissers. Maar dicht bij het dorp.

  • 3/5

this place used to be really nice. People walk their dogs and don't pick up after them. there is a bin. however, people don't know how to use it.the sunset is amazing, though, and plenty of fishermen to watch.

  • 5/5

Endroit exceptionnel! Tranquille sans interdiction et gratuit. Coucher de soleil spectaculaire.

  • 4/5

Lovely spot, very busy with other vans, fishermen, dog walkers and walkers. Very nice, peaceful, beautiful views. Lots of space for parking, no bins or facilities. But we did get a food delivery from Sadies Takeaway to the van which was great!

  • 5/5

Great place. Near town. Stayed November 5th so had free fireworks early evening.

  • 5/5

beautiful, stunning, gorgeous is all I have to say very happy campers

  • 5/5

Loved it. Beautiful ocean views, not bothered by anyone and surrounded by another 4 campers. Little service and no toilets but does have a bin in the little carpark. Would happily stay again.

  • 5/5

spent Saturday and Sunday night here and although there's no services it really is a great spot and a pleasant 10.15 minutes to the town centre which has an array of pubs and eating places. thoroughly recommend

  • 5/5

free to park with lots of space and on the sea front. coast walk from the car park which is a bonus. no facilities but fine if you plan ahead. local dog walkers and folk fishing visit but no negative comments. there is a camp site close by if you prefer but no parking g signs on the actual Quay side. I think the town is perhaps still recovering so didn't venture in but didn't need to with views

  • 5/5

Great spot but is exposed so in high winds or storm surges I wouldn't stay here. The location description says you can stay on the protected approach road Quay side but this not the case as there's signage saying no overnight parking.

  • 4/5

stunning spot, no bin but so lovely and scenic and the sunset is amazing! and bonus has phone signal lol

  • 5/5

stayed last week.Absolutely a little gem. no facilties but who cares when u got everything u need with you. few people come in cars to walk their dogs. never bothered us. a man in another motorhome from Evesham came and introduced himself. both of the vans stayed the night and why not when it's free

  • 5/5

Parked in December. Only van. Beautiful sunset but slightly exposed to wind, however flat and tarmaced. No facilities, but we don't need them and it's FREE!

  • 3/5

A few campers here. loved it. lovely sunset. no facilities but worth it for the views. EDIT:- parked here back in Sept and reviewed it below but came back 18 Jan and winds 40mph - was the worst night sleep ever in the camper. the other parking spots up Kings Street are more sheltered which is where we moved to at 4am after no sleep! so great spot still just not one for high winds

  • 4/5

Stayed 1 night 8th Oct. Good spot with excellent views. Very very busy that night with people driving onto the beach and people watching the sunset. Night fishermen upto around 3am too. A local psycho kept flying round in his blue people carrier, driving like a knob and staring at everyone, No bother but slightly off putting. Noise trailed off around midnight and had a peaceful nights sleep.

  • 5/5

Great place to stay overnight, there were a few camper vans here. Brilliant views of the beach and no trouble at all.

  • 5/5

Here at the moment after a long drive from Fort William & what a location ! don’t bother with the other two in the area (unless this is full / only 3 here at moment & loads of room)!!. beautiful sunset & 5 yards from the beach !

  • 4/5

Great spot, but you have to drive past the lighthouse and around the corner to get to it (postcode takes you to an area you can't park at, pin on here is correct). Gravelled area literally on the sea front, so it is a bit windy. Nice breezy walk along the sea front though!

  • 5/5

Don’t listen to the comment about Maryport being a bad place to stay. Maryport is a lovely sea side town with lots to do and amazing sunsets. Nice little place this to park and stay overnight. Full campsite just around the corner by the marina if wanting electric hook up. Don’t drive past it’s worth a visit.

  • 1/5

Be very careful stopping overnight in Meryport. It’s well known as a bit of a bad area. Apart from that it’s a good spot. Nice aquarium near by and plenty of shops.
