Alles vorangegangene Lob für diese tollen Frauen im Pub kann ich nur vielfach bestätigen. Mir wurde auf Nachfrage am Nachmittag abends ein daraufhin handgeschriebener Zettel präsentiert mit Optionen für vegetarisches Essen. Dazu ein tolles Buffet plus üppigem Dessert für 10 Pf. Das alleine war den Schlenker von unserer Route in den Süden wert.

Stayed the night after a Sunday lunch( large portions). Very convenient for us on way up to Alnwick.

Super spot for overnight before travelling to the Peaks. Pub good & friendly. train track near but not noisy & quiet track. felt safe after a trip to York where our bike was stolen in 12 mins, beware!

Fantastic stopover. Very friendly in the pub. I travel alone and felt safe and welcomed.

1/12/24 Super location next to the field/station for easy access into York. Quiet dead end road. Pub is basic but does a cracking Sunday roast with friendly staff. Some commuter traffic for station early doors as road has no parking restrictions but is the other side of the car park. Thank you

what a cracking wee stop. super friendly and love dogs. parking in the carpark, looking onto a field with chickens, ducks and geese. Carol the landlady was great company and Bella our dog was treated to a plate of chicken. We forgot it was bonfire night so noisy earlier on with fireworks but went into the pub and it was cosy with a real log fire and great food on offer.

Great overnight stop. Good size car park and level. Very welcoming and friendly landlady, Carol, and locals. Good traditional food. Definitely will come again.

Empfehlenswerter Stopp mit wiedermal herzlich nettem Empfang! Essen für 4 Personen nach 21 Uhr gar kein Problem, danach kostenlose Übernachtung auf dem Parkplatz am Haus. Ein echter Yorkshire Pub mit tpischem Essen und super netter Wirtin. Durch die Nähe zur Bahnstrecke nicht ganz leise, aber wir fühlten uns gut aufgehoben. Wasser auffüllen möglich. Besser geht "a warm welcome" definitiv nicht!

Locale amichevole e serata davvero divertente con birre, biliardo e freccette! Tutti molto disponibili, cibo buono e prezzi accessibili. Consigliato!

We were thankful to the landlady for allowing us to stop overnight. Beer was cold. Friday night quiz was enjoyable and entertaining. Locals were very friendly.

Super nette und hilfsbereite Menschen. Das Essen war super lecker und auch super viel, dafür der Preis unschlagbar. Auf die Frage ob wir über Nacht stehen bleiben können, wurde dies direkt bejaht. Wir würden jederzeit wieder hier hin kommen. Nur Barzahlung oder Überweisung möglich, letzteres ist eher schwierig.

Es ist ein außerordentlich guter Platz zum Übernachten. Wir fühlten uns herzlichst willkommen, haben lecker gegessen - Abendessen und Frühstück - und hatten nette Gespräche mit den beiden Wirtinnen und den Gästen. Wenn man in das normale englische Leben eintauchen möchte, ist das genau der richtige Ort. Highly recommended!!! Wir kommen unbedingt wieder.

parking tranquilo al lado del pub,al que entramos para pedir permiso para quedarnos,las dos mujeres muy agradables y hospitalarias,así como los clientes del pub,al final nos quedamos a cenar porque estábamos muy a gusto justo al lado,la estación del tren,que llegas a York en 20 minutos cómodamente se oye algo el tren

Un très bon endroit à tester. Nourriture on ne peut plus locale et de qualité. Nous avons très bien mangé, l’accueil est parfait, Je recommande vivement . Petit parking sur le côté, notre camping-car de 7,3 m a eu du mal mais c’est passé. Attention payement cash uniquement!!!

Auf unserer Rückreise nach Dover kamen wir nach 21 Uhr an. Von der freundlichen Pubwirtin bekamen wir nicht nur ein Bier. Sie hat sich für uns sogar noch in die Küche gestellt und ein leckeres Essen zubereitet. Wir durften auf ihrem Parkplatz übernachten und sie hat uns sogar angeboten am nächstem Morgen Frühstück zu machen. Perfekt, was will man mehr! ♥️-lichen Dank!

Accueil magnifique ! Diner et petit déjeuner très bons et faits maison. Possibilité de remplir le réservoir d'eau. Parfait pour la nuit d'étape !

Emplacement agréable !, les propriétaires sont vraiment gentil, nous avons mangé sur place et la nourriture est vraiment fantastique !!, nous avons dégusté notre première « Pie Chicken » et « Pie steak » et nous sommes agréablement surpris !, ils nous ont même proposé de remplir la citerne du camping car. Je recommande fortement !

Fantastic spot stayed 28/01/23 really friendly and the food was unreal some of the best homemade food I've had. Be warned the portions are huge, doggy bags are provided thankfully.

Absolutely fantastic place to stop over for York city. Owner Carol and her friend Susan made us feel the most welcome! Very quiet place to park up, amazing food and the locals at the pub were extremely friendly! We felt like we were visiting friends!!

Great atmosphere and very friendly staff. Stayed overnight on New Year’s Day. Had an amazing lunch and the dessert could have fed three. Sat nav missed the turning but the pub is next to the railway station. Offered water for the motor home and asked if we needed anything, Safe area. Free to stay if you eat in the pub. Locals extremely friendly but then we are in Yorkshire. Would highly recommend

What a great stay and no fee! Large level car park with plenty of room. Landlady and barmaids were really nice and couldn’t do enough. It’s a traditional pub with big fire, big TV showing whatever the majority want, pool table (free), darts, lovely seats out front and in the beer garden. Kids loved the kids garden. Food portions were huge with everything home cooked. Can’t fault the place at all.

We didn’t believe the reviews before we went there but agreed 100% once we had. Lovely food and very pleasant staff and customers.

Great place to stop. Friendly and helpful staff serving lovely home cooked food and a nice pint of beer. Handy for the train to York or Leeds. Dog friendly.

Absolutely spot on. Warm welcome and good food. Carol cooked the best onion rings I've ever had. Combined with the cosy fireplace and F1 on the big screen, level parking and nice people the night turned out much better than expected.

Super friendly pub, great homemade food and plenty of it! Had super social night and happy for campervans to stay if having food and drinks, highly recommend

Quirky pub, good food, friendly staff, will stay again.
