Parked overnight here on the 14th of April. Lovely spot once we found it, unfortunately the coordinates are wrong and it’s further down the hill. Would’ve been even nicer if one van hadn’t been parked selfishly sideways and blocked the view. We were very happy to make a donation in the box

  • 5/5

Stayed at Sledgates Car Park overnight on 10th April, which is just further down the hill on the right than these coordinates. Donation box available. Beautiful view!

  • 4/5

Wild spot nice and quite, however on 6 April it was very windy with heavy rain in the storm as its exposed. Plenty of room to park for all size vans with no height restriction. No services. There are in fact 2 parking areas being used here, one called sledgates car park is 50 yards further over second blind summit. Views over Robin Hoods Bay. Photos on maped area is mixture of both areas.

  • 4/5

Great stop over. Fantastic view. Quiet during mid-week when we stayed. Used as a base to explore Robin Hood's Bay, Whitby and Scarborough. Entrance is just over the blind summit as you go downhill. We parked our 7.2m Moho without problems, should probably have used levelling blocks but wasn't too bad without. Picnic table just off from the car park. Also public footpath.

  • 5/5

great spot with amazing views! would recommend

  • 4/5

Good car park set up for MoHos with a donation box. There are 3 areas you could park as per the photo with the red circle. Go over the first small blind summit, past the gravel park on the right (which is extreme left on photo), over next blind summit and turn right. 3 spaces over looking bay, a few at the back. Pretty level. Picnic area. Walk down to the bay on steep road, couldn’t find a path.

  • 4/5

Great views, not quite level, but ok. Lovely, peaceful spot.

  • 5/5

Thanks to the recommendations here we used this car park last night, it was the 17th October so there was only two vans but I appreciate looking at reviews for different times of year to suit your trip. Room for about 8 vans. No facilities but quiet, a lovely view and benches/picnic table. We parked at Station car park and walked down to Robin Hoods Bay and back and then moved on to this stop.

  • 5/5

wow, what a find! View to die for, quiet little spot with a donation box.

  • 5/5

Coming up from Robin hoods bay the turning is on the left and is quite a steep sloping entry so be careful as not only is it short and steep but it appears suddenly. Once in the carpark it is comparatively flat, we shared the carpark with two other campervans over night. There are fantastic views over towards the sea, there is also a short grassy track leading to a small flat grassy area.

  • 5/5

Fantastic overnight stay on flat ground with great views. Friendly farmer that said hello.

  • 5/5

Stayed last night 19/9/23 after a lovely day in Robin Hood's Bay. We initially tried the B&B stop further up for the better view but gales and rain felt like we were on a boat! Decided to park side on against the bushes to give us a little shelter. Had the car park to ourselves, lovely view despite rain. No bins but there's benches and a picnic table. Donation/honesty box on carpark

  • 5/5

I stayed over the road by the B’n’B sign as the view was better and it was a little more level. Several parking spots here but apart from the occasional dog walker or people stopping to eat their lunch I only saw one other van. Amazing views, very little light pollution so good for starry nights when it’s clear and a beautiful sunrise.

  • 5/5

Stayed opposite to the car park down a track in a Tentbox. A few big campers in the carpark, so moved across the road. It is a bit more private as you can only fit a couple of small campers in at the end & It has a better view over Robin Hood Bay than the car park.

  • 5/5

There are a couple of parking places in this area. We chose to stay in this one as opposed to the one on the opposite side of the road with the better view and the B&B sign. We couldn’t find a donation box though. Lovely views and relatively flat and quiet. The farmer passed by a couple of times and smiled. Would stay here again.

  • 5/5

Large gravel car park ideal for our 7.5m motorhome, when dry can be a bit dusty, had a very peaceful evening and overnight. rest waking up to beautiful sunshine. This is up on top of the hill so exposed to the elements and can be a bit windy, but we found it fine as an overnight stop off - once we found a level spot to park up on.

  • 5/5

lovely peaceful quiet area. it is just off a road but it's quiet. there's enough room for about 5/6 campers. it over looks robin hood's bay one way and rolling countryside the other.

  • 5/5

Lovely quiet spot, next to the road but no real traffic during the evening. Good view over Robin Hoods bay (5 mins away) Tarmac car park, not quite level but easily sorted with ramps. Room for around 6 vans (Only 1 when we arrived, soon increased to 5 by nightfall) Donation point for gratuities and adjacent picnic table with view over the bay. Lovely quiet night. We will be back!

  • 5/5

Excellent spot with fabulous view over Robin Hood's Bay .. I guess in the summer months this is a 'get here early' place as we stayed overnight 11th April, arriving at 7pm and there was one van here, but by 9pm there were 6 of us !

  • 5/5

Fabulous view over the moors and bay. Quiet little spot, only us and one other campervan parked there. Expected it being busy but so peaceful. Can certainly recommend

  • 5/5

Perfect spot overlooking Robin Hood’s Bay. Very quiet with one other van parked near us. Well-maintained. Highly recommend!

  • 5/5

Absolutely fantastic stopover, as others have said, the stop is the sledgates car park just down from where the picture of this listing is. Fantastic view, nice and quiet and super dark at night so you can see the stars in a clear night! Donation box to support the upkeep. No bins take all your rubbish with you

  • 5/5

Stayed here on the 15.08, it was really lovely, very quiet, just 2 other campervans. Very clean, and barely any noise from the road at night. It is free to park, but a small donation stand. No facilities or bin - so please take your rubbish with you so we can call enjoy a place like this. EE signal is brilliant, for the fellow remote workers who need signal/wifi. The view of the bay was amazing.

  • 5/5

  • 5/5

There are 2 carparks very close together, we stayed in the one just below this. enough room for a few campers but we were the only ones. no bins or facilities but great signal and fantastic views over Robin Hood Bay! road not that busy either. fantastic stop over!

  • 4/5

Small carpark for up to 10 vans in a circle. It is called Sledgates carpark and bares no resemblance to the photos above. This one is on the right down the steep hill . WiFi is excellent

  • 4/5

Slight slope but acceptable. Great views. Park bench. Picnic bench.

  • 5/5

Great place to overnight, hardly heard any traffic, bit of a slope but worth it.

  • 5/5

Great View, space for a good few campers so felt secure with neighbours. Free but donation box on site

  • 5/5

Amazing place to stay for the night. Tarmac & fairly flat with the most amazing view of RHB. Well kept by the local authority with a donation box in the car park to go towards the upkeep. The main photo is the wrong location. It’s down the hill 100 yards & is tarmac, not loose stone. Look out for the donation box, it’s a clue and you’re in the right place if you see it! You won’t be disappointed

  • 5/5

Superb view of Robin Hoods Bay. Level surface, a few picnic benches. 5 other vans, very quiet just passing traffic.

  • 5/5

Very Nice tarmac carpark with a Contributions Box. Beautiful view out over Robin Hood Bay. Lovely sunrise. Very quiet, a few cars passing along the road overnight, but you will sleep and awake to the sound of the birds. Me plus two other vans stopped. Up the road at the gravel park was another MH, he had views over the Moors probably with a sunset.

  • 5/5

Make sure you're in the tarmacked car park, which is on the Robin Hoods Bay side of the hill, with fantastic views. This is 400 yards from the exposed gravel park. Very good surface, sheltered, busy with 4 vans when we stopped, so felt safe. Wonderful view to wake up to over the village and seascape.

  • 5/5

Fresh tarmac no potholes. Great nights sleep, stunning views down to the bay. If you’re not in the tarmac car park with donation box then you’re in the wrong spot - just go over the brow of the hill towards the bay, you’ll see it on the right. Wouldn’t bother with the other two rough spots before this as likely belong to the farm. Great picnic area too. Happily paid as it was worth it to relax.

  • 5/5

Lovely park up beautiful views national trust car park with donation box. We dropped £5 in as well worth it and really need places like this to stay. Please leave it cleaner than you found it. We parked at the back so the locals could park. view was just as good. It was the small lower car park. Very quiet nights sleep. 5 star

  • 5/5

Great place to park, another van there felt nice and safe. no bin but a donation box and a picnic area. Got an amazing takeaway pizza from Barnards butchers in Fylingthorpe village!

  • 5/5

Two locations being reported here. The large gravel car park by the hay bails is exposed, but okay and the small car park just below. Presently no restrictions on either, but if we over do (park more than two vans) in the small car park, this will be yet another one we’re banned from! Made a donation and collected the small amount of litter.

  • 5/5

Nice quiet location with great view over Robin Hood Bay. Did get a few people turn up in cars during the night but no problems. Two other vans with us when we stayed so felt safe the whole night

  • 4/5

Lovely spot with a view! Perfect location after a day at Whitby,we were the only van here so a nice quiet night.

  • 4/5

Briefly stopped here, was far to windy though to stay any longer as very exposed. But apart from that would be a good location. Flat and level. No bins.

  • 5/5

Fabulous place 2 Mile up the hill from robin hood's bay. super super quiet. room for 10 vans. there were 4 of us this night. donation box. walk through the picnic area, turn left, head downhill, and through the village right into the bay. very steep so walk back is wonderful lol.

  • 5/5

Beautiful view. Just off the road at the top as you start to drop into Robin Hoods Bay, the road wasn't busy, quiet carpark. A 5 minute drive from Robin Hoods Bay itself Has a small picnic area with one picnic table. We stayed Friday night, 3 other Camper vans us for the evening

  • 5/5

Perfect spot. A good choice of places to stop in. we got there early afternoon so got pride of the view spot. room around the loop for 4 or more campers though not all level. further parking areas on the other side of the road and further down the hill. ideal place to stop to carry on into robinshood bay.

  • 4/5

Lovely views of Robin hoods Bay though carpark is on a slight slope . Had a peaceful night's sleep . New donation box has been installed so please be respectful and make a donation as local council are clamping down on free overnight sleeping in other areas.

  • 5/5

Stopped here last night 2 other vans here as well absolutely lovely quiet spot! With beautiful views!!!

  • 5/5

Lovely flat area overlooking robin hood's bay, 3 other vans there with us. great spot!

  • 5/5

Stayed here on the 3rd April, very quiet peaceful spot. Only one other campervan there when we woke up, managed to park on a flat spot too. Views in the morning were spectacular, looking over robin hood's bay. Will be back 100%!

  • 5/5

Lovely quiet spot overnight despite being just off road. Exposed and windy but fine for us once parked right. Busier in day as we set off. Too misty to see much of the view!

  • 5/5

Camped here on 30/09/2020: fantastic car park for a local walk, beautiful morning views looking over RHB.

  • 5/5

Excellent information given ........ great view overlook Robin Hoods Bay. Plenty of space and totally Free day and night

  • 5/5

We stayed about 50m further down the road on the opposite side. Small broken tarmac track that loops back on itself. Incredible spot with full views over Robin Hoods bay. Far enough from road to sleep well. Very exposed so could be rough on a windy night.

  • 5/5

Very good spot to watch the sun set over the Moors and rise over the Robin Hoods Bay. A little bit of road noise until around 10 pm then quiet. Fantastic if you are self sufficient. Definitely recommend it.

  • 4/5

Bit of traffic noise but Lovely spot to watch the sunset over the moors

  • 5/5

Fantastic view looking down onto robin hoods bay - top spot for an overnighter!
