Camping municipal idéalement situé dans un cadre naturel. Les sanitaires ont été rénovés. Un point d'évacuation des eaux usées est disponible. Son emplacement et son cadre sont impressionnants ; c'est peut-être le plus beau camping de Crète. Il propose de nombreux emplacements pour tentes et une vingtaine pour camping-cars. La plage et le village se trouvent juste en face du camping, et la célèbre plage naturiste rouge est à 30 minutes.
A municipal campsite in a very good location in a natural setting, the restrooms have been renovated. Toilet disposal is available. The location and setting are impressive; it may be the most beautiful campsite in Crete. Numerous pitches for tents and around 20 for campervans. The beach and village are in front of the campsite, and the famous red nudist beach is 30 minutes away.
Städtischer Campingplatz in einer natürlichen Umgebung sehr gut gelegen, die Sanitäranlagen wurden renoviert. Es gibt eine Möglichkeit zur Toilettenentsorgug. Der Ort und die Lage sind imposant, es könnte der schönste Campingplatz auf Kreta sein . Zahlreiche Stellplätze für Zelte und rund 20 für Wohnmobile. Strand und Dorf vor dem Campingplatz und der berühmte rote FKK-Strand 30 Minuten entfernt.

Der Campingplatz ist für einen Besuch von Matala perfekt. Etwas rustikal aber die Duschen und Toiletten sauber und wohl neu. 14 Euro für 2 Personen mit Womo ist angemessen. Die Entsorgung Möglichkeit für die Chemietoilette ist nicht einfach zu finden. Man muss auf die Parkplatzseite entlang der Abtrennung gehen, dort findet man dann ein ca 12 cm starkes Kunststoffrohr mit Schraubdeckel.

Posizione proprio al centro e davanti alla spiaggia, facile accesso, corrente, docce bagni nuovi, scarico wc chimico. 14 euro camper 2 adulti 2 bambini, top.

Toilets, sinks and shower block. access ok for our 2.3m wide, 8.5m long A class but at 3.5m high you have to watch the trees and 6700kg be careful with sand as previously mentioned ground has quite deep sand in places so pick your spot carefully. luckily we are rear wheel drive or we would of been stuck. In high season, about 12 vans here of various sizes
Nice campsite, new toilet facilities, showers, and a dishwashing area. Shade, electricity, and water available. Everything in Matala is within walking distance. Sandy ground – be careful. Very friendly staff. 14€ for camper and 2 person per night.
Not a campsite, but just a parking lot. There is one hose and electricity on some of the trees. Overall, the space is not very big, there are also many places with deep sand and even with a 4x4 get stuck. No showers and No toilets. €4.50/person and €3/car-high price for just parking with a hose. Matala is a very commercialized tourist resort. Otherwise, paid wild camping, many people and noises.
Un peu moins enthousiaste que mes prédécesseurs, en fait il s'agit actuellement plutôt d'un parking avec une partie dédiée aux campings cars. Pas d'emplacements délimités et peu de niveau , pas de sanitaires mais vous pouvez utiliser les sanitaires publics et gratuits de la plage, électricité mais prévoyez de longues rallonges... Tarif 5 euros le camper, 4,5 euros par personne... Bien trop cher
Wir haben 4 schöne, ruhige Tage in Matala verbracht. (Preisreduktion infolge Renovation, 5Euro/Tag inkl. Strom, Wasser, Entsorgung - Super!)
Sanitair wordt momenteel gerenoveerd, je kan er nu staan tegen parkeerkosten ( tot ?). Er is een waterkraan, toiletten bij het strand. Electriciteit net vernieuwd en werkend.

Location is great. We parked here with our Motorhome. Price is 4 euro per person and 5 euro for the motorhome. The toilets are very old and cleaned to standards. I had to use the public toilets outside the camp or the toilet in our motorhome
Schöner Platz mit Schatten, zentral gelegen. ABER: sanitäre Anlagen äußerst schlecht, defekt und schmutzig - wir fühlten uns als Besucher vorsätzlich provoziert und beleidigt. Schade für Matala! 0 Sterne
Waren heute eine Nacht dort und die einzigen Besucher. Die Dane an der Rezeption meinte, wir sollten uns die sanitären Einrichtungen erst mal anschauen, bevor wir uns entscheiden. Da gibt es nicht zu beschönigen. Die sind einfach grottig und wir haben dort nicht mal die Toilette benutzt. Gleich am nahen Strand sind dafür gute Toiletten und auch Strandduschen frei. Die Nacht war ebenso katastrophal. Live Musik bis 4:00 früh und kein bisschen Schlaf. Wenigstens war die Musik gut…. Jetzt wissen wir, warum wir die einzigen Nutzer waren. Schade, denn die Lage und das Ambiente im Dorf sind wirklich toll.

camping tres bien situe mais a l abandon cote amenagement ..sanitaires sales et hirs d usage portes ne ferment pas ..panneaux solaires brises donc pas d eau chaude ... musique a fond jusqu a 3h du matin le wend . bref pas a recommander on dirait qu ils priviligie le parking au camping ..
A l'approche de l'été, l'état du camping est toujours aussi délabré. Dommage dans un pays qui offre de si belles choses. Points positifs, possibilité de vider les WC chimiques et de faire le plein d'eau. Vraiment regrettable pour ce village mythique.
Standen hier Anfang November einige Tage. Auch bei Wind recht geschützt. Den ersten Tag haben wir noch bezahlt, danach war kein Personal mehr anzutreffen. Sanitäranlagen unter aller Sau, aber für umsonst ok. Dusche zur Not mit Schuhen betretbar. Matala zu dieser Zeit fast ausgestorben.

La posizione è straordinaria. Praticamente ai piedi delle cave e a 1 passo dalla spiaggia. Peccato che non sia niente di più che un’area di sosta con allaccio alla corrente inclusa. Le colonnine sono però poche e sparse per il parcheggio. Quindi chi prima arriva meglio alloggia. I servizi sono in pieno stato di abbandono. Nota di merito va alla ragazza all’ingresso e alla sua simpatia.
14€ for two adults and a camper. Toilet and shower are very dirty but electricity are included and you can find good places near the trees. In october. By the eay, ten metres from reception to the beach was a toilet free with paper and soap. Shower on the beach. But party sounds until three in the morning. Only for happy people. Very close to center and romans caves.
There is a small area for campervans where road is ok, otherwise it’s just a parking… the place could be really nice, some trees, some sandy spots for tents.. BUT the place is smelly, rubbish around (condom full, feaces when dogs are not allowed…..) and the toilets/showers are a WRECK, totally disgusting. Beware of the sandy part on the road!

Tariffa 5 euro per camper, 3,5 euro a persona, bambini gratis. Campeggio misto a parcheggio per auto giornaliere. No scarico, si elettricità, ombra, posizione super strategica per la spiaggia e per il paese. A quel prezzo direi che di più non si può chiedere e comunque Matala merita di essere visitata.
Très bon camping , calme en pleins centre de Matala , c'est sur que les sanitaires son vieux mais 14€ avec électricité de l'ombre ce n'est pas cher
Stayed 2 nights in April, when campsite isn’t officially open yet. So you park there for free and (sometimes) there is warm or cold water to shower…how can people complain about the state of sanitary infrastructure when they don’t pay a penny for it? We liked it. Peaceful, right on the edge of town. Some restaurants are high standard, very good (Scala or 2 Friends for ex); town is perfectly clean.
A really nice place! we spend 4 weeks in April there and meet lots of friendly people and had lots of fun. The place is perfect for dogs. The toilet and the shower are maybe the best but they work.
Der Platz liegt leider mitten im touristischen Umschlageplatz, Matala ist nicht mehr das, was es war. Nicht empfehlenswert!
Sehr schöner Strand, tolle alte römische Grabhöhlen, die auch Hippies in den 60er und 70 bewohnten. Der Campingplatz ist im Winter geöffnet und kostenlos.
Very basic camping. for € 9 not really more to expect. sanitary facilities old and half broken. only spot to stay close to the center of matala.
Der Platz ist super schön. sehr schräg aber sonst kann man nichts sagen. 5€ pro mobil und 4,50€ pro Person. incl Strom. Es wurde hier wohl viel gemacht. Der Platzwart ist sehr nett und wenn man länger stehen will zahlt man weniger. Momentan sehr sehr wenig los. Die Toiletten sind öffentliche aber wer mit dem Camper kommt hat ja schließlich alles on Board. Die Bäume sind schon und es ist ruhig.
Devastated parking place instead hippie atmosphere. Matala itself as tourists attraction for mass tourism. Go to next free place, you will sleep faar from noise.
De passage à Matala je pensais m'arrêter dans ce camping qui sert également de parking pour les gens qui visitent ville ou vont à la plage. Quand j'ai vu l'état des sanitaires, j'ai renoncé à faire étape ici! Indigne d'un camping!
Campeggio un po' abbandonato a se stesso. Di giorno viene usato come parcheggio a pagamento (3€) per chi va in spiaggia. c'è la possibilità di mettere la tenda o il van o camper per dormire. se si arriva tra le 21 e si va via per le 8 è free camping, altrimenti prezzi contenutissimi (tenda e due adulti una notte 12 €)
Dans un état de délabrement c'est le mot juste ! C est vrais que vous pouvez entrer et vous installer sans que personne ne vous demande quoique ce soit !! Et le camping sert de parking aussi ! Donc les voitures prennent les meilleures places ! Attention à l eau j ai été obligé de vider complètement ma cuve pour causse d impuretés utilisez un filtre même si ce n est qu un linge !
Excellente pause pour nous qui voyageons en bivouac. Nous n'avons vu personne à la réception et donc passé deux nuits gratuites (8 et 9 juin 2021) avec transat à dispo et douche chaude ! flower power !
Gekommen um gleich wieder zu gehen. 5,00€/Camper zzgl 4,50€/Person war uns für diesen staubigen Platz und den Matala-Rummel zu viel. Stehen nun in Komos für 2€. Ebenfalls toller Strand mit FKK (rechter Bereich) und der Parkplatzeinweiser hat uns gleich darauf hingewiesen, dass wir gern über Nacht bleiben dürfen!
Camping laissé à l’abandon! Détritus au sol, terrain en pente, parking pour de nombreuses voitures. Sanitaires dans un état vétuste. Insecure pour des enfants (nous sommes en van 2 adultes + 2 enfants). A fuir!!!
We stayed here no problem in March 18. But there is a new owner who is investing in it for the season. So it is CLOSED over winter ... gate locked. But YOU ARE WELCOME in the main carpark out of season. Carrefour open till late.
Camping à l'abandon, fermé en cette période...mais ouvert ! Nous avons payé 2 € pour nous garer sous les tamaris avec branchement électrique si besoin et eau à volonté. WC et douches "hippies" mais eau bien chaude. Accès direct à la plage par petit portail. Nombreuses tavernes excellentes.
Camping à éviter, pas un camping, un parking, sanitaire vétuste tagué, dégradé, moche, dommage !
Arrivé vers 18h car avant dans la journée c'est aussi un parking en vrac. Sanitaires pourris. Douche et wc dans le camping-car. Matala reste un lieu mythique du follower power. Plage magnifique. Je n'y resterai qu'une nuit. 13 € pour le camping-car et deux personnes électricité comprise.
Camping dans un état lamentable : sanitaire en ruine sans eau. Le camping sert de parking pour la plage en journée. A éviter absolument.
Nettes dorf mit bars und restaurants. wir waren während einem beach festival dort. campingplatz (25€ 2 nächte, 2 personen, 1 van) sauber und viele schatten spendende bäume, mehrere duschen kaputt und toiletten dreckig. 1/2 stunde zum red beach sehr zu empfehlen. supermarkt extrem überteuert.
Currently open and free. Showers, water and electricity all on offer. Lots of good places to eat close by (recommend gianni's). I'm not sure who is paying for the cleaning, electricity and water but it is very good of them.
The campsite is closed for the winter but we stayed in the beach front car park with no trouble. There’s water available next to the beach showers which are still working in January, you need pliers for the tap as the handle has been removed. Went into Micheal’s cafe first day, really friendly and really expensive he also showed me another water source next to the multicoloured hut in his grounds. There are plenty of other places to eat and drink we loved the music cafe. The town has character and lots of characters, we loved it but may not be to everyone’s taste. Well worth a visit and don’t miss the walk over to red beach or talking to the people who live here.
Camping fermé (hiver). Il y a un accès par le grillage coté plage mais uniquement pour les tentes. Dommage car même si ce camping était dans un piteux état, l'ambiance était bonne entre camping-cariste et pseudo hippie (vrai clochard). Il reste toujours le grand parking en face la plage pour y faire un arrêt de quelques jours.

Pros: free solar hot water showers, free parking, free hookup to electricity. Cons: ambiance 'crackhouse', putrid smashed up bathrooms, no laundry facilities. The hippy thing died many years ago leaving only a few of the wasted dregs and day trippers. Far better places to parkup on nearby beaches. NB excellent cheap mechanic and potable water sources to be found in nearby Moires.
El peor 'camping' que hemos visto. Sólo lo utilizamos para llenar el depósito de agua (2€). En los lavabos no se puede ni entrar, están en ruinas. No vale la pena porque sólo lo puedes utilizar como parking y además caro! Nosotros pasamos dos noches en la calle principal de entrada al pueblo sin problema. El pueblo es bonito, ambiente hippie!
Personne à l’accueil. Très calme emplacement libre. Pas très entretenu mais plutôt joli. Proche de la plage et du centre. Très bien placé.
On ne sait pas ou commence le camping et ou finit le parking, plutôt limite mais pour 13 €, possibilite de laver son linge prendre de l'eau et vider les toilettes. Il y a des bivouacs en Crete gratuite plus accueillante.
Camping assez nature avec les commodités standard. Proche du centre du village et de ses commerces et restaurants. Parfois bruyant à cause des clubs du bord de mer avec leur musique "non grecque" à fond jusqu'à 4 heures du matin...
Un coin rare, idéal hors saison, très beau au pied des grottes, vous êtes certain d'y rencontrer d'autres voyageurs
