Have used this spot a couple of times while waiting for the Ferry. Really interesting view of Port of Felixtowe or the sea depending on your levels of interest. No grief from the locals but it's a nice touch to park in front of the white (Norwegian - local history point) houses so you don't block their view. Generally quiet but odd flurry of traffic and promenade busy with dog walkers.

Parked here late Saturday evening after the ferry from NL. Only a few spots left. Great spot to explore the local history and meet the folk. The weather turned wild the next day. The wind was rocking our van and the waves were crashing onto the nearby pathway. There is a solid concrete barrier also, which helped us feel safe enough to stay another night, rather than trying to drive in the storm.
Rustige plek langs het water. Vanaf een uur of 6 komen er af en toe auto's langsrijden van denk ik lokalen, maar geen last van gehad. In de nacht de boot vanaf Hoek van Holland binnen zien komen. Goede overnachtingsplek vlakbij de boot.
A nice and simple parking alongside the street in a residential area. Seems quieter and wider then the other parkups alongside the water in Harwich, so might be better suited for larger motorhomes. Had a quiet night's rest together with half a dozen other campers.
Een rustige plek uitkijkend op het water waar de zeeschepen varen. Pak de fiets en rij langs de kunstlijn op het fietspad. Prachtig! Op vrijdag is er een kleine markt met verse groenten en fruit in het stadje. 8 minuten lopen. Ook een geldautomaat en supermarktje.

Good quiet night sleep, not quite level but no issue, good signal but do hear some noise from shipping containers loading onto ships but not bothered. Walk along promenade in evening as sunset to beach for dogs to have run around(not allowed on parts between may/sept). Toilet area by kids play park
Stayed on Saturday night on my way back from Suffolk, residential street but quiet and no problems. There were 3 other vans there.
Für eine Übernachtung ist es OK. Ist nicht allzu viel Verkehr aber ganz ruhig ist es auch nicht. Schöne Aussicht aufs Wasser. Die Toiletten sind beim großen Leuchtturm. Während unseres Aufenthalts waren sie aber geschlossen.

Lovely quiet residential road with sea on one side. When we stayed, there was about 8 other camper vans parked. We all seemed to be getting the early morning ferry. It was a lovely overnight stay and about 10 minutes from the ferry port. It felt very safe.
Arrived late in the evening. Quiet road in the night and only 10 minutes to the Stena line ferry early morning. No disturbances during the night and early morning a couple of cars and people walking with dogs. Left 7am for the ferry and for this purpose a great place. It is next to the water, so if it is stormy it might shake the van.
Stayed the night before getting the Ferry. Lovely little stop over. Nice walks and quite on a night.
Ordentliche Möglichkeit, um zu übernachten und auf die Fähre zu warten. Direkt am Meer, nachts war es leise. Leider gibt es in ganz Harwich keine "legale" Möglichkeit, sein Womo abzustellen: keine Stellplätze, kein Campingplatz. Wir waren 2 Nächte dort. Toilettenanlage am großen Leuchtturm, Mülleimer an der Strandpromenade. Restaurants in der Nähe.
Great stop pre-ferry. Getting busy already when we arrived at 4pm, for next morning's boat. couple of pubs within walking distance.

Great place with nice view. Should be a bathroom at the High Lighthouse but didn't find it (didn't have to search for it ;-) ) Nothing much to see in old Harwich but it 's a nice little town. Don't forget to visit The ALMA Inn for a beer or a meal.

Flat, wide road opposite the docks. Huge container ships in full view. Whilst the sound of thunder, lightning and torrential rain was short lived, the constant rumblings of the 24/7 work in the port might disturb light sleepers … me included ! However, great little spot for an overnighter before the ferry. About a dozen campers doing the same !
Parked up here late for the night, before heading on the ferry to Hook of Holland. Nice, flat and quiet, drinking water just down the road to fill up the tank. Toilets a few hundred metres down the road too.
optisch nicht zu reizvoll gegenüber dem Hafen, aber über Nacht recht ruhig und ohne Störung. Interessant die Fähren zu beobachten. Gut für einen Spaziergang mit und ohne Hund
Parked here the night before the ferry, free of charge. Arrived late and left early. Didn’t leave the van so can’t comment on the area. Lots of parking along the road. Was quiet the night we stayed. Hope the locals don’t mind!
Very quiet and peaceful place close to the port. I recommend for a night while waiting or returning from a ferry.

Brilliant views for a sun rise if you're up in time. loads of space for multiple vehicles and free. toilet, 2 play parks, museums, the harbour, great shops down the road in Dovercourt, lots of historical things to see and beaches to walk as well. locals seemed friendly enough and started walking their dogs at around 6am. no hassle and will return

We found this spot after looking at some roadside parking along the harbour road which didn’t suit us. When we arrived there were already several vans parked up. We spoke to a friendly Dutch couple and parked up. Nice quiet night and friendly local dog walkers we chatted to in the morning.
Beau spot juste en face du port. La rue est calme mais le bruit des grues, containers, en face au port est un peu ennuyant.
Very quiet street with a great view over the Harbour. We arrived Saturday evening and only had a couple of cars rush by, otherwise perfectly quiet over night. Felt totally safe and were joined by a couple of other vans, so absolutely recommended

Initially a good spot but we were about to go to sleep tonight when we noticed 2 guys loitering in the dark beside another van 20 metres away from us. They were walking round the van several times, shining a light in all the windows etc. This lasted for at least 20 mins. They also shined the light at our van a few times. We left and spent the night at the ferry terminal instead. Avoid!

Easy to park. Not in anyone’s way - other vans here. People fishing and just walking. Great views of Felixstowe container port. Toilets as already stated were OK. Got a take away from Peking Chinese which was very good. Quiet, safe night.

It is more than a stopover before or after a Harwich Ferry. It is adjacent to the old Harwich. There is an excellent Heritage Trail (map at Ha’penny Pier’s Mayflower Exhibition Centre). It is a superb vantage point to watch tugs manoeuvre huge Container Ships onto their moorings. Ha’penny Pier is also the departure point for a ‘walk on’ ferry to Languard Fort which has guarded the UK against its foes since 1667 and the ‘View Point Cafe’ from where you can see the operating side of the biggest Container Port in the UK. There is a toilet and a Fish and Chip shop on Main Road close to Harwich High Lighthouse. Just follow Harbour Crescent, with the sea on your right. Just past the ‘Cafe on the Green’, turn right along the path. At the end of this short path head left to the red bouy. There is a toilet block on the Main Road close to the bouy. There is a Chippy 30m further on. When we stayed on Harbour Crescent there was a 17mph ENE wind which caused the Moho to rock a bit and, at the top of the 13’8” tide, waves splashed onto the pavement by us - perhaps park on the houses side of the road if these conditions are expected! Ruhig und friedlich. Nur 4 km (8 Minuten) zum Stena-Line Hafen. Ideal für eine Übernachtung am Vorabend der Rückreise am nächsten Morgen. Wir kamen heute gg. 18:00h an (UK-Sommerferien sind bereits beendet) und haben uns einen von geschätzten 10 freien Plätzen aussuchen können.
Great little spot by the sea, good walking spot if you have a dog. a bit noisy with the freight ships across but also makes a lovely view. drove here from glasgow and was not disappointed!
Langs de kant van de straat. Rustige plaats om te overnachten Leuk zicht op het laden, lossen en in- en uitvaren van schepen.
Niks bijzonders, maar mooi uitzicht over de baai. Prima voor de eerste of laatste nacht. Strandje en speeltoestellen vlakbij. Openbare toiletten te vinden naast de High Lighthouse, wit gebouwtje, aan de andere kant van het grasveld. Havengeluid van Felixstowe 's nachts duidelijk hoorbaar maar niet hinderlijk.
Decent spot perfect for the ferry. Quiet road but the odd car going way to fast shakes the van. Will use this anytime we are leaving from Harwich. Water down by the museum (lighthouse), outside tap easy to fit large containers under.
Man parkt direkt am Straßenrand und zumindest bei uns war es relativ laut, auch in der Nacht. Die Anwohner schienen nur mäßig begeistert von den ganzen Campern.
Sehr ruhiger Platz mit toller Aussicht. Super Übernachtungsplatz wenn man abends von der Fähre kommt. Die Anfahrt war (zumindest mit unserem Navi) etwas abenteuerlich.
Eine sehr ruhige Nacht hier verbracht. Ideal um morgens mit der Fähre übersetzen. Zur Fähre sind ein nur 2 Meilen.
