lovely spot. relatively flat and with plenty of good walks around. a beautiful stream runs through between the two car parks. good parking for cathedral quarry with a nice circular walk taking in slaters bridge.

Free parking spot 10 minutes from Coniston. Additional smaller car parking area on the other side of the stream. It can get busy during the day as there are lots of hiking routes nearby so do park considerately.

AidanCNB10/06/2026Great spot, we came in our 7.5m campervan. No toilets but if you have a van like ours no need for anything. Make sure to never litter as people say so spots like this stay fine to use!
Lujah_29/05/2026Plusieurs nuits ici sans aucun problème, beaucoup de balades autour dans les mines abandonnées. Sur google : hodges close et cathédrales cavern à voir pas loin à pied. Baignade dans les bassins de la rivière si il fait beau. Endroit parfait

Incredible spot. Nice and flat. Poor signal on EE. Felt like we had the valley to ourselves. Up a windy, narrow and steep road just off the main road (tight bend if coming from south) but well worth it at the top. Secluded. Busy in the morning with walkers parking up. Us and 2 other campers overnight on bank holiday. No facilities - take your rubbish with you and keep this spot amazing and free!

Great spot, nice and quiet with water running through. Other campers there so felt safe. No bins.

What a really nice place, I went in the winter months and was really peaceful, the roaring of the river running wild, my phone was hit and miss with the old interweb

I absolutely enjoyed staying here.. Very peaceful at night and empty at the time I visited it. The road to this spot is a single track but there are passing places. I had no problems with my LWB.

Great place for a park up. No signage to say that you can't park overnight here. Great views with walks starting from the car park. no bins or toilets so your unit must be self contained. We were the only ones here last night. We will be back at some point.

Fabulous stop by a river. Quite remote. Good sized car park. No bin or any facilities so must be self contained and take your rubbish away.

Load of room, stunning location with amazing walks from the car park. Little river to have a picnic by, just amazing really. Quiet overnight, walkers/runners/climbers during the day. Wiggley road to reach it but worth it and there's a few passing places.

Stayed here for 2 nights in the back of the car with the dog, was very quiet and peaceful with great walks. The ringo signs had been sprayed over and the camera knocked off, asked a local and they said it was free. No one bothered me and the local farmer just drove past and waved good morning.
