Used to be Wooler First School / SureStart Children’s Centre but council created a large free car park following the demolition of the buildings. There are bins, picnic benches, grass areas to walk dogs and level parking for lots of vans. June ‘24, advertised as a long stay overstill car park with no signage for restrictions, payment etc and no height barriers. We had the entire place to ourselves, amazing hidden spot.

Spent a couple of nights here due to a spell of rainy weather. Used the cafes and pubs in Wooler until the rain stopped and we could head out hiking into the hills. Cherry tree cafe was a good choice, big cakes! Plenty of dog walkers but no issues and very quiet. Was careful to leave no trace and no litter picking was required.

We had a very odd experience here in our motorhome, we parked here to walk into the town during the day a little while back. There was a man walking his dog that stared at us as soon as he saw us. He then continued to circle around the car park, staring at us and the van the entire time. We left whilst it was still daytime and didn't stay the night, very odd behaviour and we didn't feel safe.

Sadly noticed a review smashed headlight and questioned if safe. While having our meal my husband noticed a builders truck the driver taking photos of us, yes, really was sign written as Bob the Builder. We decided to move as felt unsafe. Great car park but... Wooler Parish Council need to decide regarding people staying overnight and if not then erect signs. Not let violent vigilantes discourage.

Lovely place to stay. Flat tarmac car park surrounded by grassy area. Plenty of spaces and even 4 spaces for large campervans. 2 picnic benches and bins at the entrance. 5 mins walk into small town with shops, pubs and a couple of restaurants. Churches to visit, 6 in total. Quiet peaceful night with 1 other large campervan. Locals walking dogs in a morning.

Woke up to a smashed headlight, obviously put in during the night by a hammer. One van-lifer and one other motorhome present. Plenty of early evening dog walkers, possibly one took exception and paid us a visit later on. Area may not be as friendly as it seems. It's in a busy village, there are no signs to say you can't overnight and no mess but a minority of locals would appear to be offended.

Superb place to stop over. plenty of spaces, clean and quiet.

At least 30 marked bays tarmac and gravel all level, located at far end of Wooler village, sign posts marked over flow car park , no signs for payment and no signs prohibiting overnight stays, bins and picnic tables on grass areas - literally 5 mins walk to pubs and shops

Large level free unrestricted overflow carpark. Several bins. No other facilities. A few dog walkers during the day. Virtually silent overnight. Standing on compacted grey stone chip surface with marked bays. Good 4G signal. Responsible grey water discharge possible. IF this site had water and waste disposal, then it would be 5 Stars, which given it's history, could so easily have been provided.

Stayed here on Wednesday night with two other vans. Plenty of room. Locals were friendly and stopped to chat. Short walk to the village with plenty of shops, pubs, cafes and public toilet at bus station. Lovely and quiet, had a great sleep and woke up to a perfect view with the sun shining.
