(OX3 8TD) Oxford - Old Road

Kostenloser Parkplatz ohne Höhenbeschränkung. Sind mit den Fahrrädern nach Oxford rein gefahren. Tagsüber sehr viel Verkehr, bis spät Abends. Haben eine ruhige und ungestörte Nacht verbracht. Würden wiederkommen. Optimal für eine Nacht.

Excellent place to stay. Huge car park with no restrictions, peaceful, level, good views nearby, walks, bins. I had such a peaceful night, one of the best places I've stayed. Please keep it that way.

Great little place. Very steep, narrow road to get here but loads of space, private, quiet and picturesque.

Also eigentlich ein guter Platz. Große Fläche mit schönem Park. Obwohl keine Durchgangsstraße also Sackgasse einer Straße die nur Anwohner hat, fahren so viele Autos hoch, geben auf dem Parkplatz Gas und heizen den Berg wieder runter. Auch Betrunkene kommen nachts vorbei. Sehr früh morgens sind Jogger und Hundebesitzer unterwegs. Würden dort nicht mehr stehen.

Level is okay, lots of space, but it’s seems that it’s a dogging place. At the time I slept here, people listened to music way to high from 2am to 5am.

Το parking είναι δωρεάν με μεγάλο χώρο. Λίγο δύσκολη πρόσβαση λόγω στενής ανηφορας όμως αξίζει το κόπο! Με λιγότερο από 15 λεπτά περπάτημα παίρνεις το 10 η το 15 λεωφορείο με 2,5 λίρες και σε 25 λεπτά είσαι στο κέντρο. Το συστήνω ανεπιφύλακτα!!

Nous avons passé une nuit très agréable. Un peu de passage dès les premières heures du jour car beaucoup en profite pour venir faire du footing ou de longues promenades. Coin tranquille qui permet de bien se reposer avant de continuer la route vers le Sud !

Nous y avons passé 2 nuits, l'endroit est vraiment agréable. Assez facile d'accès malgré la route qui est plutôt étroite avec quelques nids de poules (il faut y aller doucement).

Sehr schöner ebener großer Platz, füllte sich über Nacht stark, letzter kam um 0.30! Früh morgens bereits Autos. Zufahrt gut fahrbar. Viele Jogger/ Hundespazierer. Sehr empfehlenswert!

Agréable pour aller visiter Oxford. Tout proche en voiture d'un park and ride.

Confermo che il posto è facile da raggiungere ma con qualche buca sulla strada nella parte finale della salita. Siamo arrivati alle 22:00 e c'è ancora qualche posto libero. In 5 camper passeremo la notte qui. Parcheggio abbastanza in piano

Great place, lots of vans parked up. Driving for ages and then thank goodness I came across this on Park4night to stay overnight…there doesn’t seem to be an inch in Oxford that isn’t double yellow lined or is permit parking only. An overnight here then I’ll drive to the park n ride tomorrow when I go for a day in Oxford :)

Easily got a sprinter lwb there bland very worth it. Large car park with hours and hours of extensive wood walks round it. I ended up staying here a couple of days to do some walking.. Gets busy on a Sunday with dog walkers and picnics.

I stayed here on 07/07/2025. Ideal quiet parkup with loads of walking for my dog. If the bins are full, take your rubbish with you. Please leave no trace.

Arrived here around 21.00 on a Friday. Upon arrival, 3 other vans and several cars were parked. Come 23.00, it all quietened down, so as just 4 vans were staying overnight. Good mobile signal and large waste bin on site. Some lovely walks, so expect both dog walkers and runners coming and going from early morning throughout the day.

Arrived early afternoon, loads of space and beautiful surroundings. Great walks and our van neighbours even brought us over some apple pie. Very family friendly area. Peaceful nights sleep and enjoyed a walk in the woods near by. The road coming in is very narrow and potholed but it's worth the journey. Definitely come back again if we are near Oxford.

Very good place! Quiet at night. ( if you continue completely to the back) The were 3 other vans with us. We made a nice 90 minutes walk in the morning in the park.

great spot . spent day there on the track . dog loved it . no facilities. Just an ice cream van . will go back

Stayed 9 Mar, 1 night. It was very busy on a sunny Sunday, and my first attempt at 2pm was a fail. I returned at 4pm and a few spaces had freed up. By 6pm it was very quiet, with 5 vans overnight and plenty of space. A few cars coming and going through the night but no bother or antisocial behaviour. Very peaceful and clean location and the dogs loved multiple walks through the country park.

large graval car park with plenty of spaces. very peaceful night sleep. 5 other campervans hear in December. so a popular spot. lots of dog walkers in the morning. they tend to park on the right-hand side of the car park in the morning. so park on the left if you want peace and quiet in the morning. lots of woodland and walks. lovley spot to spend a few days. very much recommend

Parked here mid week to access Oxford. Very large flat gravel carpark, steep winding potholed track to access, quiet all night.

Large car park with some pot holes to get around . Does get very busy at the weekends. Fairly steep and narrow road up, some overhanging branches but fine going slowly. Morning and evening sun is lovely and some great walks through the park or down to the town. Some cars overnight but no noise or bother. Otherwise quiet. Bins available. Great stop.

This is called Shotover Country Park in Headington, just follow Old Road all way up the hill and it opens out into the car park. Gorgeous walks all around. Had a peaceful night here but cars coming and going all night, though they weren't racing and being noisy. Obviously the local youths use it as a meet up area but they weren't noisy and no music blaring so would recommend this place.

It was quiet in the night, also the other campers provide a feeling of security. Evenings and mornings are quite busy with dog walkers.

4 étoiles car route d’accès étroite et en pente. Grand parking très calme la nuit, juste des promeneurs et cyclistes. Le centre d’Oxford est à 20 minutes à vélo. Pas de services, juste des poubelles

Local com imenso espaço para estacionar, com o inconveniente dos acessos setem péssimos e o piso ser em terra batida. O local é relativamente sossegado apesar de imenso movimento desde muito cedo. Porém é do melhor que encontrei nos arredores da oxônia.

Beaucoup de monde le soir et le matin pour promener les chiens. Sinon très bien, très beau cadre. Le chemin pour y accéder est un peu étroit

Grand parking, plutôt de niveau. Voie plutôt étroite pour y accéder. Plusieurs voitures, camping cars et vans ont stationné avec nous pour la nuit. Pas mal d’aller et venue de voitures durant la nuit d’où l’étoile en moins même si elles ne nous ont pas spécialement importunées.

Bon endroit calme pour passer la nuit et visiter Oxford, nous avons visité en vélo, attention ça monte pas mal pour atteindre le parking, de belles balades en forêt sont à faire autour du parking.

Beautiful location, the locals were friendly & welcoming in the morning, but we had experienced a bad night. We arrived at 3am passing a police vehicle coming down the lane. However, all was quiet on the park-up, 2 or 3 vans, 2 cars. As we slept, twice there was a bang on the van, but the third time I woke choking and struggling to open the roof window. Our gas alarm went off a few moments later.

Great for one night, large gravel lot. There were three other campers in addition to cars and we had plenty of space between us. Peaceful. You can take a trail (muddy in spots) through the CS Lewis Community Nature Reserve and see the house (The Kilns) where he lived.

Really lovely car park for the country park walks. Nice and spacious and almost totally level. Not 5 stars because we were woken at 3am by cars of youngsters playing music and chatting loudly - they stayed for 90 minutes. No problem staying overnight - ignore the review below. There are no signs and certainly no hostility towards motorhomes and campers. There were 4 of us the night we stayed.

Exactly as described. Plenty of space, easy single lane road to get to. Quiet throughout the night. Two other campers here.

Parfait pour passer la nuit avant la visite d’Oxford, nuit très calme. Possible de ce balader dans les alentours, les locaux viennent le matin promener leurs chiens.

great free stopover. no height restrictions. large area. quite a few dog walkers. steep hill to walk to Headington. Large bin in the carpark for rubbish. very quiet. if in area would stay again. recommended.

We come back here every month. We love it.

As of 13/09/23 there are still no signs up or any evidence of there ever having been signs up. Excellent quiet spot.

was great but they're installing no overnights signs as of June 1, 2023 and will be patrolling/ticketing after that.

Update 2 Jun 23 - stayed the night no restrictions or signage. Council websites says open 24/hr. Amazing spot! Room for 40+ cars (outer edge & 2 rows in the centre). Space to manoeuvre. Full 4G on EE. Gen/dog waste bins at the woods entrance and picnic tables and benches. Off road cycle track north west corner of the woods and hidden kids sandpit in the centre. Great for dogs. Will return!

Lovely place. Plenty of room for everyone (more than 15 motorhomes can fit here). I feel safe even though it’s pitch black at night. There is a huge park/forest for dogs, kids and nature lovers. I highly recommend this place to anyone. There are bins, big bins! So no excuse, keep the place clean! This is one of my fav spots so far! Thanks for sharing!
