Not a bad place to get your head done, fairly quiet through the evening with the odd car racing past, no devices apart from the odd bin but a decent enough park up and nice to wake up near to the sea to walk the dog,

  • 4/5

brilliant park up, however there is a slight slope, as others have said 7m only JUST fits.

  • 4/5

Awesome spot with the beach / sea in front of you - our wee Cooper (Yorkie) was happiest ever. BUT - when the wind & rain started at tea time it was like a blazing storm, with what was like 90 mph winds hitting right off our van, shaking it like crazy. SO great spot if it stays nice. Really did enjoy. PS wee Hub at other end for a nice wee hot chocolate while walking the dog.

Often spend the night in this park up, usually accompanied by atleast 4-5 other vans, always get noisy cars going past in the night but never have any bother from them. A nice semi-secluded park up, can get busy in the summer months so arriving early is advisable.

  • 4/5

Nice little place to stay for a night, few cars did go past through the night, but overall good place to stay. Not much going on, but did have a nice coastal path to walk along for the dog.

  • 4/5

Nice quiet spot, some traffic. Around 6 other vans. Anything longer than 6.5m and need to park sideways

  • 5/5

Lovely spot to park with the Irish Sea 25 yards away. Cant see the sea but you can hear it. Council run - clean and flat. Quiet dog walkers on the sea path from 7 am. Some cars coming past to go to the further car park at night (this one with 2.1m barrier) but all gone by 10 pm and peaceful until morning. Good signal. Seals seen from the Nature Reserve at the South end of the island.

I Parked here for two consecutive nights without issue.A few cars passing at night, a good free stopover. I couldn’t book in via the QR code sign on the day but no issues I concluded that this needed to be done in advance. I even picked up some lay-by litter and put it in the lay-by bin.

Mooie plek gratis helaas kan je vanaf de CP niet de zee zien daarom 4 sterren. Her uitzicht is prachtig.

Great free park up right by the coast, with 8-10 other respectful campervans also staying overnight enjoying the beautiful spot. Quiet location besides the occasional car going past on the road. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

First night out in the new motorhome. sharing this parking place with 6x other vans. very clean quite and great views. no parking restriction signs seen. very quiet night. Lovely beach, with seals swimming bye. left no trace.

  • 5/5

Peaceful night. plenty of space for 10 or more vans. Spent last night here along with 5 other vans. Nice coastal path for walking the dogs.

  • 5/5

Lovely place to park up. 7 or 8 vans in total last night, very quiet and nice pebble beach 20 metres away. A little bit exposed so a fair bit of wind noise, but all good!

  • 5/5

Back again for a night, lovely peaceful nights sleep, wish more council,s catered for motorhomes, thanks barrow. defo come back, lev nowt behind

Stopped here 31/05/2024 scanned the QR code which is at the south end of the parking area, went to website and to “book your stay” it appeared as though the trial has now ended, stayed the night with about 7 other vans and had no issues, police car drove straight past at about 9pm. Best to park straight in as this will leave much more room for everyone else and local fishermen and dog walkers.

  • 5/5

Fantastic, safe parking. Pebble beach just over the ridge where you can watch the amazing sunsets. Very dog friendly area with clean well surfaced pathways. A gem!! Thank you to the local council for allowing us to stay for free :))

  • 4/5

Great location, 20 yards from the shingle beach. 8 vans in total but loads of room. Big thanks to the local council for supporting "van life"

  • 4/5

No one else parked up yet, cloud ?️⛅, very light breeze ?Police patrol 17:40 past us and waved. Dog walkers and horse riders. No boy racers yet! Update 10 camper vans 20:30 great sunset ?

  • 5/5

Lovely park up for the night. Very quiet with beautiful views both sides. Would recommend and will come back in the future.

  • 5/5

Great spot for night, council allowance so no worries, quiet night here, fair few vans here but still room for us.

  • 5/5

Fabulous spot close to the sea, can be windy. Lots of dog walkers. There are several spots to park up on this stretch of road. Brilliant that Cumbria Council provide these spots ??⭐️?

  • 4/5

nice spot ,few cars going past to be expected though quiet from 23.00 good views around of the town itself and then the beach area in morning moved to next car park with sea views to brew up and have breakfast.

  • 5/5

Fab spot stayed 2 nights cars pass but soon stops for a peaceful night sleep. Nice walks and pebble beach less than 100m. Also recommended easy cleaning laundry just over the bridge. Fab service, heavy bag for £10 washed dryed and folded delighted.

  • 4/5

it is a nice spot but it could do with marked bays to keep vans from parking so close to each other. All it takes is one person's dodgy self build to go up in flames and your £40k motorhome you parked 3 feet away is going up in smoke too. Plus, I don't want to smell what you're having for breakfast (or last night's dinner...)

  • 5/5

Perfect for dog walks and long stroll along the beach or footpath, very quiet except for the wind :) I stayed 2 nights as there was a lot of room

  • 5/5

Lovely peaceful carpark 100 yards back from beach, thank you furness council for making motorhomes welcome, bins, so leave nowt behind, just one night but thay hav 4 other free motorhome parking in & round barrow, defo come back

  • 5/5

thanks barrow council, great place to stay. good dog walking. lots of space.

  • 5/5

What a lovely place! And what a good idea of the councel.... stayed for one night and felt really safe. Just some cars passing by. It was very windy that night, but snuggled under the blanked in my van and felt alright....

  • 5/5

Spot on! Large long lay-by can fit my 6m in fine or park sides, can fit 10-12 vans in. Directly opposite coastal path and beach. Bins and good EE service

  • 3/5

Really nice spot however spoilt buy a car arriving at 10:30pm and having their engine running on and off all night until 2:30am at which point we decided to move on. Same car was back night after however we blocked ourselves in between other vans so couldn’t hear it but was running at midnight when I let the dog out. We have been here previously and not had any issues so hopefully this doesn’t become a recurring problem.

  • 5/5

Stayed here for one night lovely spot next to beach, nice and quiet

  • 5/5

A great spot, we spent a quiet night alone there. We parked sideways as we were too long (7.3m). A few cars driving to the other car park during the evening. Plenty of dog walkers. Peaceful night. Beautiful surroundings. Will come again.

  • 5/5

Arrived in the night. Plenty space. Good views in the morning. Clean and silent.

  • 5/5

Great spot with views of the ocean and it's free!! Easy to find and easy to park. Plenty of space for large motorhome, could probably fit five or six on there. Great costal walks in both directions. Small amount of traffic noise as it is next to the road but didn't bother us at all. Would highly recommend the Round House cafe which is 15 mins stroll from this spot. Wonderful breakfast waffles!!
