Lovely and quiet, very dark too. No services, although a toilet block is located in the opposite car park further along. Pub food available 2 mins walk away

Micky-Jo30/09/2025Une nuit très calme au pied des ruines du château. De la place pour 3 ou 4 fourgons maximum (plus de 6m de long ca risque de gêner le trafic). En cas de temps pluvieux, de grosses flaques d’eau. Très belles vues sur le lough. Restaurant très sympa juste au dessus.

Set in an absolutely stunning location on Sketrick Island, with views over Strangford Lough. Accessed over a short causeway, there is level space for around 5 to 6 vans. I did ask in the restaurant and was told I could park in their car park too. Public car park close by too. Note, one way system in operation. Pub has lovely beer garden and good looked great. Highly recommend!
AdVantageous07/08/2025Parked just in front of the castle ruins. Lovely spot, very quiet. Excellent facilities just down the road (toilets, hot water - an outside shower, bins) the only thing missing is a cold water tap for refills. Toilets open at 9am

We went to this location but not really suitable at all. We drove across the bridge and parked in the car park area directly opposite this location. It was very quiet and had public toilets, which while locked at night were open again early in the morning. Nice view on to the Lough and no issues at all and had a lovely meal in the restaurant as well. All good.

This is a muddy exposed parking area with no amenities. As it was off season we found a level spot in the car park up by Daft Eddie's where we had a lovely meal and coffee the next morning from Little Eddie's. their coffee shop. There is a car park with public toilets about 100m south of the causeway to the island (towards White rock). No height barriers and this I would give an extra star.

Stayed one night in front of Castle. Very quiet night. Food excellent at Daft Eddy’s. There is a larger car park before you cross the causeway. It has toilets and room for more vans. Would use again.
Cdda15/08/2023Emplacement sans aucun intérêt, les places décrites ne sont qu’une vaste flaque d’eau de de boue au croisement de deux routes. La photo d’illustration ne corresponds pas au site. Le restaurant est certainement délicieux. Mais nous avons passé notre chemin.

Stayed here overnight on Thursday 20th April 2023. Lovely stopover with very clean toilets, though they are locked up from 6pm to 9am. There is a lovely walk around the island finishing off perfectly with coffee and cake at daft Eddies. Very quiet at night.

the staff at Daft Eddie's encouraged us to park at the car park a little before the causeway to the island. there were 4 other motorhomes. a peaceful night. public toilets, clean site, new picnic benches, and fabulous view looking out towards the Lough.
