(CT18 8DH) Folkestone - Farthing Common

Second time staying overnight here for a tunnel the next morning and can’t say we had problems either time. Yes the adjacent road is busy from 7am to 10pm, but we accepted that as a price to pay for being 10 minutes away from the terminal. Good for dog walking!

Noise, car party, teens and drugs - we left after 10 min, found a nice quiet spot down the road

you can hear the cars passing by but it didn’t bother us. like 20 mins away for the boat to calais

can be a bit busy. multiple cars already parked there when we arrived and some teenagers hung around in their car partying when we were setting up. police stopped by on the lot as well but never got out of their car so no issues with that either

arrived just after 23:00 hrs in our motorhome for early Eurotunnel. there was plenty of room (about 5 other vans already there), it was quiet and exactly what we were after for a quick stop over before heading off in the morning

Super Spot. Sind nachts mit dem Tunnel angekommen. Da es nur 10 min zu fahren ist sind wir hin. Super ruhige Nacht gehabt. Da man aber eher geduldet ist, sollte man dringen seinen Müll wieder mitnehmen.

Stayed last night before getting the tunnel this morning. Few other vans and card overnight but had a good night sleep. Nice grassy area to let the dogs stretch their legs.

Great spot. Just stopped for a cuppa. But saved so we can use it when we have an early ferry to catch. We are 7m and plenty of room, with hardcore and level spaces.

Turned up 10pm. Few campers around. Relatively flat and so close to motorway and tunnel. Perfect.

Great spot, especially for a Eurotunnel stopover as it's only 11 mins away. Wasn't dirty like all of the other comments suggested. Good phone signal

It was okay to spend the night here, but the place is dirty and noisy.

Filled with litter and permanent van lifers who were super noisy until deep into the night. Please just be social for your fellow van lifers!

Great spot and nice and close to the Shuttle. 3 other campervans also here. A few dog walkers but that’s it. It’s by the side of a road but it goes quiet into the evening

I stay here weekly car camper. Free no time restrictions, good 5g, bins provided, no WCs or food wagons. No cameras watching you. Lovely high views but right next to road noisy.

Slightly on the wonk and gets noisy early so earplugs recommend.Great walks on the Kent downs.Bin provided so please keep this place clean.

A le mérite d’exister pour sa proximité avec le ferry de Douvres (20’) mais trop prêt de la route, bruyante même la nuit. À partir de 5h les voitures défilent. Très exposé au vent. Lieu de dépannage seulement.

PERFECT FOR BIG VAN! We had a great night here, some nice walking paths around, but not much else that we saw. The entrance is on the junction, we drove straight passed and had to turn around. Road to get there was fine for our Aclass. Lovely views.

I don’t usually give less than 4/5 for a free safe park up. This was ideal as we arrived at 1.30am for an early crossing so it suited us. The road was very quiet when we arrived but come 6am it was like being next to a motorway! Served its purpose for us but probably not the best free park up in the area

Next to the road but it didn’t bother us. We spent the night here before getting on Le Shuttle the next day. The traffic didn’t keep us awake even with the pop top. Needed the chucks to get the van flat but that’s why we have them. I would stay here again.

Parkplatz an sich für die Nacht vor / nach der Fähre okay. Allerdings war ab morgens um 6 so eine Lautstärke von der Straße dass wir kein Auge mehr zugetan haben und gefahren sind.

Schräge Plätze direkt an der Strasse. Tolle Aussicht! Sind weitergefahren!

Lovely little flattish car park with great views. A bit of coming and going in the night as it is a beauty spot but not too noisy. 10 minutes drive to the tunnel.

Perfect spot before going over on the tunnel. Very little road noise by mid evening. Quiet & peaceful with a lovely sunset. Bins available.

Beautiful view over the marshes from the top of the hill. Fairly flat.

Easy find. Perfect for people travelling through the tunnel

Really good stop over. The potholes have been repaired and only one other camper with us. Little bit of noise from some locals having a gathering but didn’t cause an issue. Would definitely stop again.

stayed here for the early morning train, ideal stopover nice, views a bit busy when we stayed.

Free parking with large wheel base van. On the side of a main road but it was quiet during the night. Good reception and small green/forrest. Only down fall was huge pot holes in the parking, had to avoid while parking.

Great spot for one night. Drive slowly on the way in as the ground is uneven. Busy during the day with walkers and passing traffic, also later with sunset chasers but quiet enough at night for a good sleep.

Like others have said, perfect spot for an overnight stay before getting the train / shuttle. Definitely need to watch out for the massive pot holes. There were plenty of other campervans staying the night too.

Just a lay-by so no facilities but just as advertised and what we needed very close to Tunnel.

Loud traffic in the morning and a bit of rubbish when we got there which we got rid of- however we stayed in a roof-tent and were unbothered :) Only had a bad night due to a thunderstorm, an otherwise ideal spot and would use again :)

Very good late night stop/ early morning ferry. Added bonus the sunset. Park at the back but watch out for the potholes :)

Quiet night waiting for the ferry the next morning, a few other motor homes. Great spot to relax and not feel in the way of locals/beach goers closer to the coast. Felt very safe.

un petit peu de circulation la nuit mais la nuisance reste correcte. l’emplacement est pratique en sortant de l’eurotunnel et la vue est sympa au réveil

Nous avons dormi ici le 13/06 à la sortie de Eurotunnel. Terrain en pente et près de la route, calme après 22h, possible promenade dans les champs au alentours. Bien en dépannage pour prendre ou à la sortie de eurotunnel.

We stopped here yesterday afternoon for the night as we are getting le shuttle this evening & wanted plenty of time to make sure we are all ready to go. this car park is great ! the road is pretty busy but if you park towards the back of the carpark you'll be sweet. road calms down a lot at night. there's also great walks over the downs for the dogs beautiful place to stop over for 1 or 2 nights

Basic car park but great for a late night stop over before catching an early shuttle. We were there with 4 other vans. There were quite a few cars around when we arrived around 11.30pm but we weren’t bothered by them. There is road noise but it did quieten down after midnight. Mind the potholes if you arrive in the dark.

Basic car park with average view, arrived at 1am to catch ferry in the morning and was greeted to the sight of some local “dog walkers” and was full of vans. This gravel uneven car park is next to a small wooded common with a busy road running along the side of it. Safe camping ya mad cants :)

Perfect place to stop for a night before the tunnel. Views of the sunset were beautiful! No facilities just a lovely place. There are ALOT of potholes, it's manageable but be weary

Quiet spot when we turned up at 1am, watch out for the muddy patch in the middle where a tree used to be. We had a vehicle stop on the main road honking and hollering, someone jumped out and knocked on the van, I don't think there was any malice, just trying to have a laugh. We enjoyed a good rest up until 8am when the road got a bit busier... We will be back if we travel out through Dover again.

Looks like a great park up despite several very large water filled potholes (we navigated them fine) but we decided not to stay as we arrived quite late and there were 3-4 cars with very steamed up windows and it didn’t really make us feel very comfortable, might just be unlucky and Tuesdays are ‘special’ nights…

Great view. Minus one star for the busy road, the beeping of passing carts and some youth. Traffic goes down after 20. Despite that we were left alone and had a quiet night

Brilliant stop over before LeShuttle at Folkestone. Quiet night and surrounded by nature. Will use again!

Alles bestens für eine Nacht nach oder vor der Nutzung des Tunnels. Wir waren auf jeden Fall sehr zufrieden.

10 mins from the tunnel terminal. Well located to crash before the drive home. Bit of road noise but that’s all. A few large water filled potholes to navigate on the way in. Nice view.

Good place to stay, a couple of flat spots, the rest is very slightly sloping, but not too bad. some traffic evening and morning, but quiet at night. dog walk in field nearby,along the North downs walk. 1 bin for rubbish.

Ca 20min von der Fähre in Dover entfernt und daher ein guter Platz für eine Pause davor/danach. Einfacher Sandplatz mit ein paar Schlaglöchern. Super Aussicht und einige Wanderwege, falls man mit Hund unterwegs ist. Nachts ruhig, aber morgens viel Verkehr

Good spot to spend the night before catching the tunnel in the morning. Ground is pretty bumpy and sandy particularly in the centre but ok round the edge. Some jokers might beep as they drive past in the night, but the view and surroundings are beautiful.

Peaceful night here. Beeping car at 5:40 but I was getting up at 6am anyway.

We stopped here after arriving on a late Eurotunnel from france. It's ok at night but early hrs of the morning a few cars (5 or 6) were beeping and I can only guess that was done on purpose to wake the campers up. We won't be staying here again.

Lieu très calme en bordure de canal. Il faut impérativement que le véhicule fasse moins de 2 m (un california beach passe). La police passe faire un petit tour le soir pour vérifier qu’il n’y a pas de nuisance et les locaux promenant leurs chiens sont très agréables. Le lieu est payant si l’on reste en journée mais aucun souci pour la nuit après confirmation par la personne du parcmètre

Mooie plek om vanuit de eurotunnel verder te reizen naar bestemming. Je hoort wel de auto’s maar voor ons niet hinderlijk. Mooi uitzicht. Afvalbakken aanwezig en voor de hond een uitlaatklep

Nice free stop before getting the euro tunnel. It’s on a fast bend so we parked as far of the road as we could. Short walks. Very uneven grounds. Nice views and only 2 min from there motor way

Heel mooi uitzicht!! Wat verkeer, maar rustig tijdens de nacht. Locals komen hier bij zonsondergang van het landschap genieten.

Stayed here last Friday night so we could get up for a early crossing. Didn’t sleep much as there was lots of cars coming and going playing loud music.

Stayed here for a night after couldn’t get into pub stop over at Folkestone. It was peaceful, one other van. Lots of space. Some kid racers hanging around with their tunes but they left around midnight. Road was quiet overnight until about 7. Beautiful views.

OK for one night before taking the chunnel to France in the morning. Bit of a narrow winding road to get here from the M20. The view is probably lovely but we arrived in the dark and awoke to thick fog, so no idea what the view is actually like! Very quiet during the night and we slept well.

stayed here last night as they have now put no motorhome signs up at the sports club in Folkestone. very pot holed, wet and muddy but a good alternative for tunnel this morning.

perfect for an overnight stop before the tunnel crossing. only saw it in the dark, was easy to find, the surface is pretty uneven so go easy.

Parking basique a raz la route, donc bruyant. j'avais la flemme,mais j'aurais dû faire les 15 miles de plus pour aller sur l'aire de Canterbury 4G quasiment inexistante

Gut für eine Nacht kurz nach oder vor der Fähre.

Verkehr bis ca. 0:30 (Freitag auf Samstag). Sehr gut besucht, auch bei Locals beliebt. Müll liegt rum - obwohl es 2 Mülleimer gibt!! - und es riecht leicht nach Öl. 3 Sterne nur, weil die Aussicht am Morgen super ist und der Eurotunnel nur 8 Minuten entfernt liegt.

Noche muy tranquila. Muy recomendable. Por la mañana carretera muy transitada y ruidosa. Para una Noche perfecto

Very nice place for a short night after our Eurottunnel transfer early in the moening. Parking only. No toilets but a clean place with a very nice view.

Perfect for what we needed. Quick overnight stop before an early morning Eurotunnel crossing (11 mins to tunnel) Flat, plenty of space (with two other vans there) a bit noisy with passing traffic, but not too bad. Nice morning view! And there was 4G on Vodafone for last minute travel panic! **Please let's be a bit more respectful with toilet habits! it's not fair on local people**

Good for up to 4 (maybe 5) motorhome, can be busy if with people waiting for tunnel crossings

Used this as a stop before catching the Chunnel early am. Perfect for what we needed -11 mins drive to the tunnel. It’s clean, flattish and the road noise was manageable. 5 other vans overnight.

Really good spot for the eurotunnel but wouldn’t stay for any other reason. A few smaller trucker vans were here too.

Good location to the Eurotunnel, but noisy with traffic and boy racer meets! Ideal for a quick stop.

Struggled to find it in the dark. Youngsters showed up in a convoy of 4x4s. Also cars passing most hours through the night. It is close to the tunnel though

Perfect for a stop before getting the tunnel in the morning, passing traffic is loud from 6am and cars passing on the road through the night but nothing a pair of earplugs won't solve. Not a toilet, don't leave rubbish or toilet paper

Great stop close to tunnel. Second time of using. Good for dogs. Quiet at night BUT commuter traffic in the morning.

Nice views, a good stop before the tunnel early morning. A few cars but quiet later. Right next to the road so not that secluded. For a busy area in England this is a good spot! Keep it clean, bins provided.

We used this as a stopover before catching an early morning Shuttle to Calais. We arrived late and left early but it was an ideal location, just 15 mins from the terminal

VERY close to very busy road. Maybe the night is okay but the daytime sure isn't. Not a good spot to rest due to loud traffic and constant coming and going of vehicles. But hey, this being England this is a high quality spot here..

Great little spot to stop for an early train crossing. Reasonably quiet, green space to walk the dog and great views. Very windy when we were there but with only 15 minute drive to the terminal it’s ideal.

Noisy as hell until 7pm, then starts again at 6 am. Also used by boy racer crowd for midnight meets. All outside their cars smoking and drinking, then in morning you find all their rubbish just left.

Handy place to stop after getting off a ferry into Dover, otherwise not much going for it unless you enjoy the sound of morning rush hour traffic flying past. A shame as the view is great. It might make a good lunch stop though as traffic should be quieter then.

Stayed here for a night before heading for the tunnel it’s ok no problems quiet at night and noisy and busy in the morning but at least you get a sleep.

Pratique rien de plus

The first time we stayed here before catching the ferry we had no problem, lovely views etc. Last night though we had our side window smashed by a glass bottle while we slept. Be really careful here.

Route très très très passante, entre les camions, tracteurs, voitures et motos, la nuit n'est pas très agréable.

Nuit calme à partir de 22h, très passant et bruyant. Mais c'est mieux qu'un camping.
