vraiment merci beaucoup à la municipalité. super endroit très propre, calme avec super vue.toilettes très propres. eau potable et vidange. respectez cet endroit (j’ai ramassé des mégots..)comme tous les autres et on vous respectera tous les CC.

this is amazing you can park right by the beach, or behind a hedge if it is very windy. enough space for about 20 motorhomes. Would definitely stay again.

Super Spot, die Toiletten waren sauber und es gibt viele Mülleimer, es gibt genügend Stellplätze und saubere Rasenflächen, ruhig in der Nacht und wirklich direkt am Wasser gelegen. Versorgung mit Frischwasser und die Entleerung der eigenen Toilette waren zudem möglich. Wirklich zu empfehlen, bitte behandelt den Platz pfleglich, damit er noch vielen Campern zur Verfügung steht.

Super schöner kostenloser Stellplatz. Alles, außer Strom, vorhanden was man eben so braucht. Da kommt mancher kostenpflichtiger Stellplatz nicht mit.

Do not use this area to sleep at it is not safe there are a lot of people stealing from your motorhome

Brilliant stopover, option to park facing the sea or on grass pitches behind the toilet block which are open but no light at night. fresh water and black/grey waste disposal. lots of bins. Peaceful nights sleep.Highly recommended.

Fantastic site and well maintained with mix of hard and mixed standing. Plenty of bins so no excuse to leave anything behind, toilets were locked but waste emptying facilities and fresh water still available, including us made 3 vans onsite.

Fantastic to find such a lovely place designated for Campervans, with fresh water, toilet emptying facilities, public toilets if needed ... All this provided free, by a forward thinking local council. Plenty of bins, make sure you keep this beautiful place clean. Stunning sunrise over the sea in the morning and only one other campervan with us. We stayed 4th - 5th Feb. 2025

We were on our own in February,. We stayed on the front and noticed one small sign saying no overnight in the morning , reading other reviews it seems that we should of parked behind the toilets ?? The front I think is classed as the picnic area. I can understand this when the campsite is open . Toilets shut but black and fresh water available.

Beautiful stop over after our ferry back from Northern Ireland. Parked up behind the toilets due to no parking in the picnic area or by the toilet block. Amazing location and very clean/tidy area. Lots of bins for rubbish, so no worry about litter. Free water tap which was helpful and women’s toilets were open, however the men’s shut.

What a FANTASTIC set up thank you D&G council we stopped for a cuppa tea and to service on the way to the lighthouse. What a super spot will revisit for a longer stay sometime.

Brilliant and free. Next to a wonderful beach - great for the dogs too - lovely walk and up for the sunrise - recommended.

We returned to this site after thinking it was part of the caravan park. so please we did. It’s on the left & right before you go through the entrance to the caravan park. What a lovely little spot. Loads of space & great views. Bins & loos on site too. There was a council van we saw pass through early evening & again in the morning. Thanks to D and G council for this. So lovely.

Great place to stop to fill for water empty CDP and spend the day. We were passing by, so didn't stay the night but spoke to other campers, and they said it was very pleasant to stay there. No showers, though, so ignore the sign above. Great walking distance to a little bay and beach area. Have added to "Favourites". Thank you to the Council for creating spaces like this!!

Fantastic location close to a lovely beach. Waste (grey & black) disposal & fresh water all good & toilets were fine. Very popular. Peaceful night.

Closest thing I've ever found to a free campsite ! marvellous !

Sehr schöner Platz, man kann direkt vor dem Strand oder auf einer Wiese dahinter stehen. Es waren über 15 Camper da. Vor dem Strand war es daher enger. Ich stand auf der Wiese, sehr gerade und ohne direkten Nachbarn. Die Nacht war total ruhig, die angrenzende Straße habe ich nicht gehört. Allerdings fuhr Dienstag um 6 ein Müllwagen zum angrenzenden Campingplatz. Die Toiletten sind ausreichend.

Perfect spot for a night or two. Everything you need, toilets (very creepy at night), drinking water and waste disposal. Lovely stoney beach for walks and Drummore only 10 minutes away with shop, cafe and public house.

Good for a night, especially if you’re self contained (the toilets are a bit manky), most pitches are level. No Three/SMARTY signal one back field but managed to do some work parking up along the beachfront area then moved back overnight. Very quiet and good nights sleep. Felt safe as solo female traveller.

Spent one night here after getting off the boat. Spectacular view on the beach once the rain stopped. Elson point and public toilets on sight.

Sehr schöner ruhiger ebener Platz direkt am Strand mit Toiletten und Ver-/Entsorgung. Grenzt an einen offiziellen Campingplatz, ist aber kostenfrei. Wir haben hier zwei angenehme ruhige Nächte verbracht.

Kostenlos parken. Total nah am Strand und die Straße hört man kaum. Perfekter Ort. Wir haben hier eine Nacht mit ca 7 womos gestanden. Bitte Ort sauber halten.

Lovely views. Nice and flat. Loo block with drinking water. Sign about no camping is just outside of loo block. More free camping in the upper terrace is more sheltered A few others camped there too. Caravan park just next door. Didn’t stay as heading down to lighthouse area.

Stayed here last week. There were no no overnight parking/camping signs at the entrance to or in the camping area behind the toilets. A council car drove round at 9.30am but didn't stop to talk to anyone. There were no signs either on the parking area at the foreshore. I think that the no overnighting sign at the front of the toilet block is just referring to the grassed area in front of it

Stayed here a few times over the years and it beautiful, no signs up so you can stay again.

Great place to stay, flat and quiet, elsan emptying, drinking water tap, toilets and bin.

great day stop. Despite council sign "no overnight" 6 vans overnighted - such a shame as next council will add height barriers. there is overnight parking on beach for £5 just a couple of miles away.

Stay here! The ‘council land’ made us a little hesitant, but this is a wonderful spot. You can park right against the shore with a big pebble beach. Winter time toilet is closed as is the CAMC site next door. Elsan & fresh water available. Not far from road, but waves louder! Would be a good place for a nervous first time off grid jaunt.

Kostenloser Platz vor einem Campingplatz, jetzt im Oktober nur wenige Mobile vor Ort. Etwas uneben und die öffentlichen Toiletten für den Winter geschlossen. Trinkwasser gibt es aber noch.

Love this spot, it’s free if your off grid and you can use fresh water fill up and toilet waste facilities. If you need electric hookup it’s £36 a night.

Fabulous little parking area, it's right next to the beach and has public toilets stocked with loo roll and paper towels - they are always open. Dumfries & Galloway council own the land and maintain it. Please keep it tidy if you go as it would be a shame if they closed it.

Great little spot with direct access to the beach. Very quiet, peaceful and completely free! There is a small toilet block, fresh water facilities and a bin. We would stay here again if in the area.

Lovely spot overlooking the beach. Basic facilities but what you expect for a free Aire. Definitely recommended.

It's a lovely spot! There is plenty of room. All as described previously. There is plenty of room to walk/exercise your dogs. Pebbled beech is also nice. Will return, if in the area again. it's that good!!

Now (October 2021) has a waste disposal point by the public toilet.

Great park up, clean toilets, water and chemical toilet disposal. Loads of space for motorhome.

I was there end of June. Great location. no litter, let's keep it this way. The toilet block was closed, possibly owing to Covid restrictions.

What a nice place. Thank you to the council the money I would of paid for a site can now be spent in the local community.

Got to be one of the best park ups I've stayed at. Lovely grass pitches, nice and level, plenty of space for load of vans. Toilets, fresh water and overlooking a lovely beach. What more could you ask for and its all free. Thanks Dumfries and Galloway Council. Let's keep this area spotless so as not to get closed down!!!

Very well kept location with beautiful views. Room for plenty of Motorhomes but don’t leave it too late to arrive as it fills up quick now that there are more locations which now no longer allow overnight parking.

Didn't stay here as was at campsite next door but can confirm this would be an excellent spot to spend the night. Park with direct access to beach or make use of large grassy space a little further back. Space for many campers. When we next come this way we will be stopping here! Bins mustn't get emptied often so take your rubbish home to avoid overflowing Public loos on site but didn't look in.

Stayed here Sunday 20/9/20. Listed when I got home as it wasn’t on the app. The woman from the site next door told me it was free as they were full. As the day went on others confirmed this to be the case. Loved my stay here. Had good signal on EE. Council owned land next door to Caravan & Motorhome site. Public toilet block, water. Wheelie bin (was overflowing though) Direct access to sand and pebble beach. Depending on how people park easily accommodate 10 motorhomes/vans next to beach. Further area more secluded behind toilet block that looks more like a campsite (minus amenities) but loads of space and apparently council are happy for people to park as long as it’s kept clean &tidy. Beautiful views, fairly level with minor tilt in some bits. 5 star rating from me. Excellent spot and free! :-)
