National trust carpark. Patrols in the mornings telling people you are not allowed to stay and signposted in several places no overnight parking. Would not stay!

  • 4/5

Absolutely lovely to park along the waterside, however a warden did come and ask us to move on in the morning

  • 5/5

Not sure it gets much better than this, right by the lakeside and only one other camper there so v quiet. during the day gets quite busy with cyclists and walkers passing through, CCTV and patrols mentioned on signage but we had no bother.

  • 4/5

A lovely place to stay and explore Windermere from. Busy on the first night but only four campers on the second. Really tight road but we’ll worth it.

  • 5/5

Great spot, no one said we couldn't stay for the night. Lovely swimming spot with a walking trail. Route there was all single lane with some steep points. We managed it OK with our 98 hightop transit. Probably not suitable for motor homes. No facilities

  • 5/5

What a brilliant find! The road was single track and tricky meetings few vehicles but completely worth it. The view of the lake was stunning. Cars there when we arrived but by 7:30pm all gone. 5 campers on total stayed, I disturbed.

Stayed here 24th June, was really peaceful and we had a lovely walk to the castle! We got there at 7pm and was the only van there but later on in the night another two campervans came. It got really busy in the morning with a lot of people paddle boarding, the view was beautiful. Would happily stay here again.

Stayed here overnight no problems. We were showed this spot by the AA man after we had a breakdown, almost made the breakdown worth it to see these stunning views!

  • 5/5

One of my fav places to stop. Can fill up quickly. But totally undisturbed. Good little spot.

  • 5/5

Got here at 7:30pm on a Friday. Lovely place to be. Roof tent up and looking out across Windermere. Not too bad for traffic after 8:30pm and well out of the way. There is a sign however not very clear and the writing has worn

  • 1/5

There are no overnight stays at this location and clear signage from the National Trust to this effect. Expect to be moved on.

  • 5/5

Stayed here for one night no problems (it was mid week and overcast) - Great views of the lake, very peaceful.

  • 2/5

There’s a sign that says no overnight camping

  • 5/5

Really sweet spot. Stayed one night with only one other van there. Very quiet and really beautiful

  • 5/5

Stayed at the weekend. Perfect spot. Few vans but not packed. Amazing lake views

  • 5/5

First ever wild camping experience! Was quite through the night a couple of vans came and went. Plenty of space, Lovely view waking up alongside the lake!

  • 4/5

The view gorgeous. But locals have some issues with me staying there so had to move.

  • 5/5

Lovely spot. reasonbly flat. only van there in the evening. in the morning a few fishermen and walkers but no trouble. great views too. 4G signal great!

  • 5/5

Went in October so i imagine it’s quieter than summer for campers. We turned up 7.30 in the morning got a spot facing the lake. It did get busier throughout the day with walkers. Has good 4G for anyone who remote works like me. No problems at all. People look like they spent weekends fishing and camping there so I don’t think you’ll ever get moved on.

Busier than a motorway service station with Campers and Motorhomes. Mid week end of September. Sadly litter about also, incl a discarded Face Mask. Arrived late afternoon lots of cars. Then by 10pm lots of vans. Even more arrived later and it noisy. Had to stay but they parked inches from my rear. Crazy. Rude. NT WILL PUT A BARRIER UP as loads still in bed as we left at 8:30am and cars started coming.

  • 5/5

Amazing view and proximity to the water and you can’t hear the road.

  • 5/5

Stayed one night here on 20.08.20 and it was a great spot, although the weather wasn’t the best, I can see it being very popular on the warmer days due to the lake, within meters. Narrow roads to access but my LWB Crafter sailed through them, not much room for passing either so take it easy. Great spot, please leave no trace !

  • 5/5

Nice and quiet when we visited early August. We were the only van there. Out of the way and right next to the Lake. Cycle path runs around the lake so perfect for a walk, though this does make it popular for early morning visitors. Please take your waste with you though as there are no bins and such places to stay as this with no "no camping" signs are few and far between.

  • 5/5

Stayed here last night was very quiet and peaceful and scenic next to lake Windermere.

  • 5/5

Lovely little place. I would suggest getting there early or late, avoid midday as the place is absolutely bouncing at the minute. stayed 2 nights, loved it. We're knackered, the dogs are knackered and everyone we came across were friendly and chatty.

  • 5/5

Great spot near the lake. Most of the space is on a bit of a slope but we managed to park at the bottom right by the lake where it's flat.

  • 5/5

A very chilled and relaxing spot right next to the lake. Busy in the evening and morning with people walking along the trail but after sunset was very quiet. Spent the night with two other campers.

  • 4/5

Great spot, seems to be getting busy though so can be tricky to get a space by the lake. Nice views and quiet at night. Please bury your shits and use biodegradable wipes - everyone should be doing this without exception.

  • 5/5

Anybody wanting a perfect view from camper or chill next to water, perfect location, bit busy during day with cars but they all leaving now so later tonight be nice and peaceful

  • 5/5

Quite place close to the lake. 30 min walk to Wray Castle

  • 5/5

Stayed one night in late November, we were not disturbed and woke up to a beautiful sunrise.

  • 5/5

Really nice spot to stay overnight, overlooking lake, nice walks either side of car park. Was able to go for a swim in the lake. Warden knocked on window this morning and politely informed us no overnight camping, there are several vans here for most of the weekend. Had a great time here and will use again.

  • 5/5

Perfect spot! Few cars turned up in the morning and some walkers but no problems. Very relaxing spot looking over to Windermere

  • 5/5

Great little place, free to park and no issues with any other Campers, there were 3 Van's staying overnight when I visited. better to park on the level next to the waters edge rather than in the sloped bays opposite.

  • 5/5

Great spot in the weekday, it strated to be busy on Friday.

  • 5/5

Perfect place! Peaceful and beautiful in the evening. Stayed and enjoyed the beach until next afternoon. Starting in the morning there's lots of dog walkers and other outdoor people parking also, so remember to consider others.

  • 5/5

Absolutely gorgeous!! Perfect. We had a little barbecue and swim in the water with the dog when we were here. No one else around. Road a little windy to get here but so worth it!!!
