Endroit extraordinaire. Rummu Karjäär est une ancienne carrière submergée. C'était une carrière de calcaire à l'époque soviétique et a été creusée par des prisonniers de l'ancienne prison. Plus tard, il s'est rempli d'eau et est devenu un endroit idéal pour nager.
Extraordinary place. Rummu Karjäär is an old submerged quarry. It was a limestone quarry in Soviet times and was excavated by prisoners from the old prison. Later it filled with water and became a great place to swim.
Außergewöhnlicher Ort. Rummu Karjäär ist ein alter überfluteter Steinbruch. Zu Sowjetzeiten war es ein Kalksteinbruch, der von Häftlingen des alten Gefängnisses ausgegraben wurde. Später füllte es sich mit Wasser und wurde zu einem großartigen Ort zum Schwimmen.

Former “lost place” that apparently is increasingly being developed into a tourist attraction. If you walk past the ticket booth at the entrance (€10 for museum & lake), you can also buy a ticket right at the museum gate for €5. Swimming is free — locals just went in for a swim. By the water, there are many food stalls. The audio guide is nice, but the numbering inside the museum is confusing.
Parking is free, only the entrance to the quarry is charged. But it is more of a tourist trap. Nobody checks anything after payment. Cars drove past the cashier even without paying.
nous y sommes entré en payant 4 euros prix seniors,le prixnormal est de 7 euros. ce qui donne le droit de stationner à l intérieur mais pour la journée. si vous voulez passer la nuit, il y a une aire pour camping car avec un prix supérieur de 30 euros.

6€ l'entrée pour se baigner, les chiens sont admis, si vous restez seulement la journée, vous pouvez vous garer juste avant l'entrée et ne payer aucun stationnement. Le parking avant l'entrée est grand donc aucun souci !
Parking en terre battue situé juste à l’entrée du parc , même pour les grands c.c au fond du parking . Les tarifs ont changé 6 € l’entrée piéton et 30 € pour les C.C .pour la journée,vous avez le lac pour baignade , eau limpide.

Zufahrt ist ca. 200m westlich der offiziellen Einfahrt, eine schmale Wohnstr., die im spitzen Winkel von der Hauptstr. abzweigt. Die Strasse wird etwas später zum Schotterweg. Etwa südlich der Halde sind einige Parkplätze ca. 4-5. Mit 7,50m passt man noch quer dahin. Zum See, der Halde und dem Gefängnis kann man kostenfrei rechts über die Mauer gehen und lins herum

Not even open with prior booking off season even though website says so. Were told it’s closed until next summer now.
We did not get in, out of season (from 1.9.) you have to make a phone booking. It is regulary open only on weekends, if it is a good weather.
