Stayed November 25. £4 but no facilities open. Peaceful nights sleep. Perfect for an early start to a hike. Aiming to return in the summer.

They’ve opened up extra parking and a field just for camping, absolutely amazing for the price and the views are utterly incredible. Couldn’t ask for better! It’s £10 per person, and the owner comes around on his quad to collect payment and info around 8pm. There also does seem to be porta loos for the camping field, but not needed for as with an onboard loo!

got here 9pm Friday 2nd May, was nearly full, by the time we woke up at 8am, it was full. Good marked out spaces, £4 per 24 hours but no signal what so ever.

Great little find, £4 for 24 hours. parked next to a stream. easy walk to the foot of the Red Pike climb, Buttermere and some easy walks around the lakes. Spent 2 nights here, did have a good 4g mobile signal from the community cell network. Recommended.

Stopped for one night wasn’t very busy a 7 pm when we set off for our walk at 6.50am up haystacks it was still quiet but on our return it was very busy. perfect for what we wanted £4 for 24 hours

We stayed here recently and would highly recommend. £4 for 24hrs definitely worth it. pulled in at about 6pm I would probably get there in day light as we couldn't see and the roads were very dark as there is no street lights. Oh and I would take cash as the machine is cash only.

Absolutely fantastic location & only £4 for 24 hours! We stayed 3 nights & did hikes to Haystacks, Fleetwith Pike & around Buttermere lake. Peaceful location & super safe. Lots of room.

I was the only one camping (car) overnight on the night I stayed, felt very safe and was very quiet. £4/night. Level and plenty of spaces. Good O2 signal. Beautifully positioned for Buttermere walks. Honister Slate Mine is a short drive, where I took advantage of the facilities, and grabbed a coffee and bacon butty. Would stay again when in the area.

nice view and really nice ice cream fro. the container, £4 for parking

Space for 15 cars or so. Paid parking that’s private land on the side of the road however the landowner (the nearby farm) are very happy with overnight stays and even multi days up to 5 days. We slept with a couple of other vans for the night. Lovely brook running past the van. Toilets/showers in Buttermere 5 mins drive away 50p or from Sykes farm. Safe area, quiet at night .

Stayed 2 nights (£4 pn). Great views across the stream. Awesome base for Haystacks and infinity pool. Busy car park with walkers and people for the cafe, so arrive early, or late. Quite from 8pm but busy again from 8am.

Just £4 tucked up in the corner very quiet and felt very safe, it is a shame that some people that stay have been dropping rubbish but great little stop over

Great location. Quiet at night, hardly any traffic. £4 for 24 hours and relatively flat. Only drawback is there is no signal ( if you need one)

  • 4/5

Great little over night car park, we stayed one night and got a level spot next to the benches, £4 for 24 hours and machine is cash only, busy road but that didn’t bother us and there is no signal

Stayed last night £4 is a steal close to local walks 2 minutes from high stile kitchen that serves food till 9 and sykes tearoom that does breakfast from 9 in the morning in summer ..this is a beautiful spot

Gorgeous park up next to a babbling brook. Busy through the day and DO NOT recommend traveling from Lorton to Buttermere during the day as the road is single lane with limited passing points and heavy traffic. £4 for 24 hours, cash only. Icecream shop is decent.

Fantastic setting; lovely views all around. Very busy on Friday night / Saturday with sun forecasted all day. 6 campers overnight. Quieter on Saturday night. Good value - £4/night. We enjoyed a very nice walk around the Lake and good to have somewhere you can legitimately stay with the NT moving people on from other locations. No TV/internet signal. We downloaded something to watch before we came.
