A lovely old pub with a big car park. We arrived at 7pm on a Saturday, and there was plenty of space. Inside was a Cosy fire, lovely food and drink selection. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended for a stop over, lads

Great stop over point not far off of the M6. The dog friendly pub has plenty of parking spaces, and serves some absolutely delicious food! A mix of Indian Chinese British options, service was excellent. We would definitely use this stop again.

I have been coming here since 2022, each time new landlords. The present occupants very polite & friendly. The menu has been expanded to include Indian dishes which are delicious. This time stayed one night, however my wife & I will be back on the 02/10/25 on our way to visit South Scotland.

Freundliche Bedienung

We stayed here for free and had a delicious evening meal. New owners had only been there a few weeks and were very friendly and also welcoming with our dogs. Would definitely stay here again for the night. Great curry highly recommend it.

Great park up. Owners are really friendly & the food is fantastic. There is a lay-by but we stayed in the car park, felt secure. Just standard road traffic.

  • 5/5

Fantastic welcome after leaving the lay-by next door. Menu looks great although we didn’t eat. Large carpark, sloping at the back but level towards the front. Some road noise but an undisturbed stay and not feeling in the way at all. New managers here who really want to get the pub busy. Lovely beer garden and dog friendly. Good selection of drinks.

perfect location for a stay overnight. staff very friendly and helpful. food was amazing. Indian food but specials available. good beer and a hand pull also available. needed chocks as we tucked it in the corner of the carpark. loads of space nice and quiet. canal right next to the pub. would highly recommend. Also very dog friendly

at the side of the Bridgewater canal. Just recently taken over by its new owners. Staff were very nice and couldn’t do enough for us. Stayed for one night had drinks outside in the sun, there’s an outdoor seating area, it’s now an Indian run pub and serves lovely Indian cuisine, iwe were the only ones there other than one couple who left before we went inside to eat, which is a shame.

parked in layby overnight 22/4/24 but pub serving very good food some unusual menu items, friendly south african couple running it, well worth a visit if in the area, i'll be back again

We stopped on a Saturday. Staff was really welcoming. Drinks where average price as was the food. Food was really nice, I would advise the Lasagne ??. Beer garden with a gay to the rear to access the canal for a nice walk. No complaints here.

**Update 27/05/24: They don't let peeps stay over in the pub car park and also not open on a Bank Holiday! Talked to the boaters here they said the new landlords rarely open. Nice setting in the layby next to the canal.

Nice food and welcoming staff. The car park is for golfers as well as pub customers. We stayed over with no problems. Quiet night but groundsmen start at 06:00. You don’t need to buy food to stay here.

Great pub, now closed. Previous landlady, Helen, now runs Pickering Arms, Thelwall (Listed nearby) & welcomes M/H’s etc.

awesome food...Great staff...Great location on the canal....awesome hosts. nothing not to like. they have great bands on too. 5 star

Saw on here not far off motorway as we were on our way north and wanted to break the journey up. Went in and said wed like to stay, would be in to eat once wed walked the dog. Lovely lady said no problem. We paid £30 in pub for 2 adult meals, 2 kids meals and 4 drinks. Bargain for a night's stay and cheaper than some campsites at this time of year! Near the canal too.

  • 5/5

Very safe feeling area! We went for the first time recently and had a few drinks and some food in the pub, menu is not massive but it's tasty and the landlady was really attentive, even brought over a sausage for our dog. You can hear a bit of traffic at night but nothing major. If you're needing 4G I would avoid though as the reception is spotty at best and there isn't WiFi.

Excellent… great food , great service

  • 5/5

large car park, set back from road, quiet, peaceful and safe. Free if eating in the pub. Helen, the new landlady is very helpful. Canal walks 200 metres away, Manchester 30 minutes, Two national parks, Dunham and Tatton 15 minutes , Warrington 20 minutes, Manchester Airport 15 minutes. A good, all year round spot.

It's 6pm on a Friday and pub appears to be closed despite having the umbrellas out in the tables, there is a for sale sign on the front and the carpark has cones across the entrance.

Very peaceful layby, some road noise overnight but nothing too terrible. the canal is lovely, only 30 mins from the city.
